I just saw on Yahoo news about gross things found in store bought bakery.Here's one L- Cysteine ,this is a non essensial amino acid.this is made from dissolved human hair and duck feathers,a product of China.This is why Homemade is so much better for you and to my knowledge I have no recipes which contain either.

I've wonder why people buy cookies - especially like Walmart cookies. How on earth can you buy a pkg on March 1 and see that it won't expire until Match 1 the next year? How can you read the ingredients and then eat it?

And a few weeks ago I was passing through the cookie aisle in WalMart and an attractive young woman was holding the hand of a young child. Both were glowing!! She was telling him to pick out some cookies, it was his birthday and he could have any cookie he wanted. What happy and excited people.

I wanted to go tell her to bake some cookies with him ... show him how good cookies were made, how good cookies tasted, what fun baking could be. Of course I didn't but gee ..............

Reading the list of ingredients on the package of store-bought is enough to give you indigestion!
Compare to all the wonderful cookie recipes we have had over the past few months on this site.

When the list of ingredients in the cookies is 3 inches long you know there's stuff in there you don't want to eat. Cookies and muffins are so quick and easy to make, I don't know why people buy the mixes. There's stuff in there you don't want to eat either.

I try to make everything homemade.I use very few prepared foods.I started making my own sauerkraut and ricotta cheese..Which reminds me I have to get out the recipe for the ricotta I want to make a pineapple ricotta pie for Easter.I jokingly say if you find any dog hair there is no charge. lol

Nancy, I am very careful with baking anything with cats around. I clean the
ceiling fan, counters, stove, and anywhere that could have cat hair. I check
everything that I bake or cook that I am giving away. I have the same fear
that I will find a hair. So far I haven't found any! Thank goodness!!!

I believe that homemade is better and also tastes so much better than anything
you can buy in the store.
