I was definitely against the reminders of aging, but yesterday I got the best surprise in the world. My husband with the help of my brother planned a super surprise birthday for my landmark 70th. I don't know how they did it, but my daughter arrived from NV, my son from FL, and various other family and friends. I now have revised my thinking and thank all my family and friends for the wonderful sharing of my life!

How about you?

I had one years ago when I was in my 20's and pregnant.  I kept telling my husband I didn't want to go out to a friend's house.  Of course I was glad I did. A small birthday party was a wonderful surprise.

I have never had a surprise B/D party; but I would love it!!  I have given two for my husband , and one for my younger brother when he turned 50.  You would think someone would take a hint!  Perhaps next January, when I hit 75, it will happen.  If not, I give up.....I'll throw one for myself.....just to surprise everyone!!

I haven't had a surprise birthday party, but our children and grandchildren surprised us with a 50th wedding anniversary party.  My daughter asked us to go out to dinner in San Francisco with them to celebrate our anniversary, and when we arrived at her house, there were at least 50 people there to help us celebrate.   They did a beautiful job.  My grand daughters were waitresses passing out appetizers, My son in law ( a gourmet cook) and my daughter in law made all the food.  My son had put together a slide show of family pictures, and my daughter had done all the invitations, RSVP's and buying of all the food and decorations.  It was a beautiful party and surprise.

I planned a surprise birthday party for my husband many years ago.  The surprise was on me because he didn't show up..  We had a good time at the restaurant without him.  I learned to make my plans and be self sufficient.  We are still married after all these years, too.

Happy Birthday, Angela.  God bless you.

I never had a surprise BD party and probably never will.  I will be 70 on May 3.

When my youngest son was in second grade I had a surprise BD party for him.  He had said at one time that he would like to have one.  It worked out very well and he was surprised.

GRANA  here;
 Many years ago, a goood friend &  neighbor  was expecting  HER FIRST BABY;We talked about baby showers & the fact  that her family was throwing several(in another  state) & that her many NH friends would not be  attending
I enlisted her help in throwing a " SURPRISE"  bd party for hubby
She offered to make his favorite rigatoni casserole & bring some canolis( from abakery nearto her family home) .
I enlisted hubby's help in plannng her baby shower party.He rented a pool table, gave extra $$$$ for food budget;  & helped decorate( for the baby shower) planned games;NEWLYWED GAME; ; JEOPARDY, darts ping pong & pool.
The night of the party(ies), mutual ffrends arrived( 1/2 hour early)  & all kept the secret
When finally our  neighbor arrived, she waited in our basement family room w/the other guests.
Hubby  put the coats away & went downstairs  shortly later
He saw  Frannie,our neighbor & yelled ' SURPRISE"  just as she all the other guests yelled' SURPRISE'  as hubby's  feet hit the bottom step.Surprised
Everyone burst out laughing; a good start  to  a fun evenning.
We all enjoyed the rigatoni ( from Frannie)the meatballs ( w/ sub rolls) & salad  bar from me;
coffee bar & BYOB     along w/the ( flaming ) crepes suzzette;  birthday   cake & canolis  inished  off  the pleasant evenning  for all.
Hubby had never even had a bd party in his childhood hood  & had always nsisted  he didn't  want one;
ever!Frown

Darla,
Don't give up! Someone will have to surprise you. Pinch your husband with a few hints. You can do it...I will pray that he wakes up to the wonderful woman he has married.

Mary,
This was my first surprise party and it only took me 70 years of living. Keep the faith. Someone out there will surprise you too.

GRANA  here;
 Hubby's idea of "' surprise" party for  me is to take me for a  haircut( the works including condition &  blowdry styling after first encouraging me to "dress up"Then when I'm all"dolled up a wrist corsage or one pinned onto my dress is given & off we go  to a fave restaurant of mine( not necesariy his fave either; though mostly we both enjoy the same places .
 It's always a treat  &  works for me!Laughing
