Did any one watch the super bowl and catch the National Anthem flubbed?  Was it a senior moment or just plain dumb to forget the words and make them up as she went along?

I didn't see any of the Super Bowl - but at breakfast this morning lots of the gang had lots of things to say about that and about all the ads.
I sure don't think I missed much.

I was making food during the anthem, but heard about it.  I think she needed more rehearsal time.  She is much too young for a Senior Moment..  There were a few good commercials, but we were glad the Packers won, because their quarterback went our Alma Mater (CAL).  Sorry Steeler Fans!

Was there a game on yesterday??
I did not watch but I am glad that the Packers won.  I figure if the Bears were not in the Big Game then I am glad the Packers won.
Did not catch the song but I will search for it now.

I thought she mumbled through part of it but I was not sure!  lol lol  Why can't it be song the way it was written; they change the song for there style of music and that is NOT how it was written.  I guess I am old fashion!!

I am glad the Packer's won!

I did not watch the game or hear her sing.  However I saw it in the newspaper and on the computer.  Guess she did need more rehearsal time.  Such a shame not to know the words to that song!!!!

My hubby watched it, but I was doing other things and didn't pay much attention
to the game. I'm glad the Packers won. I heard her sing and thought that she had
a strong voice but she did goof up!! She must not have practiced enough.

I agree with you Susan. If the song was sung as written, maybe the "singers" would remember the words instead of trying to remember how they want to sing it.  I think it is wrong to change anything about one's National Anthem. If you can not sing it the way it was written, then do not sing it, let someone else do it.
How many agree with this?

My 21 year old son said that Francis Scott Key would roll over in his grave if he heard how people sing his song! It is wrong to change something of this importance, our National Anthem.

I saw some of the Duper Bowl but not the national anthem.  They should have cue cards just in case!

I agree with Fran and Gale ....
If you don't want to sing the important words correctly - don't sing

I can't imagine appearing on national tv and not knowing the words to the song I planned to sing.  Not that I would want to be on tv in the first place. Smile  But I feel sure I would be VERY prepared if I was going to do it.  They didn't "surprise" her with a spur of the moment performance.

Yes, I watched and as a military spouse was sadden by the lack of respect shown to our country's national anthem.  Maybe they should hold auditions next year!!

I love the "maloprops" for the "Super Bowl" not sure if any were intended or not but they are funny. (Maybe I should have said Souper Bowl)
Not to defend anyone, and I am not, let me repeat that I am NOT a singer by any means I would guess it is difficult to hear both the music and what you are singing in a venue that large.  Not to mention all the other noise going on around you. I think no matter how "big of a star" you are nerves have to come into play just like anyone else.
All I know is I couldn't sing the National Anthem.  Then again I can't carry a tune in a bucket!

The ads were great.  Too bad there wasn't a teleprompter or cue cards with all the words to the National Anthem.  Perhaps we all need to sing it more often.
