Every thing seems to be downsizing these days; with the exception of the cost that is!!!

Yes, it does seem that everything is smaller or fewer in number, but the price stays the same or increases.

I went to the grocery store this morning.  I was almost our of Sugar....what did I find?  Sugar now packaged in 4 pound packages instead of 5.  My husband says it is because they don't want to raise the prices, so they just make smaller packages.  I did notice that the 10 pound packages are still available...  Have you noticed that toilet paper is narrower?  The whole thing makes me angry.  How dumb do these manufacturers think we are?

it's been quite a while since I saw a 5 pound bag of sugar - & you're lucky if it's sugar cane sugar instead of beet sugar.

coffee beans  seem to be packaged now in 12 ounce bags but the price makes you think it's a pound!

packaging shrinkage is rather covert unless you compare weights and volume.

We need more coupons and sales on sugar and flour especially during the holiday season.

I bought coffee and sugar on sale yesterday. Time to stock up. 12 cans of coffee and 18 bags of sugar. I printed out $5 off $25 purchase coupons and had the cashier add up to $25 use the coupon pay for that much then start over. Saved $15 in coupons and $42 in sale discounts. Put all the bags of sugar in plastic storage bins, keeps it flowing(doesn't harden up), and now I'm good for a year or so. Proud of myself for checking the Dollar General ad.
Ya'll have a great holiday season and keep warm by the oven.

Hi John,You have figured out the price game. When things are on sale stock up,if you have the room. The minute gas prices rise so do the price of groceries, due to the rise in shipping cost.Use your coupons when items go on sale usually when a coupon is issued the item is on sale some where or will be soon.If you can go where they double coupons and try and learn the price of items that you normally buy.I'm so glad to see the guys doing the coupons, that's great John.

I shop at Sam's for toilet paper(Northern) paper towels (Bounty) and Kleenex, and i have seen comparisons showing roll prices are cheaper elsewhere, they don't take into account the fact that all of these products come with more sheets per roll and northern is 2-ply and the same width so it is really much cheaper.
Here in Texas Blue Bell ice cream is still a full 1/2 gallon and they promise to never lower it. I ONLY BUY IT WHEN IT IS ON SALE BUT I NEVER RUN OUT and sometimes I get it for around $3.00
I remember when Nestles chips were 16 oz instead of 12, and cheaper to boot.
I picked up some Hillshire Farms lil cocktail smokies and they have shrunk from 16 oz to 14 oz

I've noticed the change in the size of sugar packages as well.  I was shocked the other day when they wanted $3.29 for a 4 lb. bag.  I remember getting them on sale at Kmart for 99 cents a bag!  It is amazing how the prices keep going up and the sizes are getting smaller.  I too use coupons to help with the cost.

I noticed that Nestle's Chips are in smaller amounts also. Unfortunately, my recipes don't know that they have shrunk so, I have to buy two bags to get that extra 4 oz. They were on sale this past weekend at our grocer for $2 a bag but, they only had the butterscotch, chunky chocolate and something else that wasn't what I needed.

Went to store and found 5 lb bags of sugar on sale but wow it is super fine. Not like the old sugar. Anyone remember the recipe for bread in a coffee can? Used to make it all the time it was so easy but what would u use today? Be hard to find a tin coffee can, maybe downright impossible. Lost the recipe too. Wonder if Verybestbaking would have it and a new way of making it today? Hmmm?

I LOVE some little cherry tomatoes I buy here .... they have always been $2.99 for a 16 oz. bag.  A couple days ago I picked up a bag that looked SO SMALL.  I checked and the printing on the label said 12 oz.  12 oz!!  Down from 16 oz all at once!!  And still  $2.99.  That's an enormous increase in price.
To make certain my memory was correct about the 12 oz vs 16 oz, I found the produce manager and asked him.  I was correct :-(
