We're heading to Cleveland the end of July for a nephew's wedding. Right now, the groom-to-be is in Tanzania and the bride-to-be is in Turkey, so helpful information has been tough to get from them. In looking at a map of Cleveland, it seems that the Beachwood area has some good hotels and would be centrally located to our activities. The wedding is in the Arboretum, and my hubby wants to visit downtown and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while we are there. But we don't know the area at all. If any of you VBBers live in Cleveland, some guidance would be very much appreciated.

The Cleveland Metro Parks span hundreds of miles of protected wild life preserve. It is wooded ,you would find all types of animals down there the deer wonder up to the populated areas in search of food a lot of people bordering these areas feed them.Check out the link above and do a search and check out the different areas. There are boat launches down there, fishing,,camping in some areas.swimming,,picnic areas, skiing,Miles of trail for bike riding or walking,To sum it up it's natural habitat and woods surrounded by many small citys within the Cleveland area.My friend is from El Paso and when her family would visit they were in awe of the Metroparks saying they had never seen anything like it.There is a zoo and nature centers where they have guided walks through the park, bird watching and star gazing among other things. There is something to see through all of the seasons..My favorite area is Hinckley lake I grew up going there to  fish.I hadn't been down there in a long time and as soon as I arrived I felt like I was coming home. When i pass away I would like some of my ashes scattered down there.

Nellie, how on earth did you find that?  I recall reading and looking at the parks but that was ages ago.
I always knew this group of people are an amazing bunch!

Haven't been to Cleveland, Ohio for many years.  I know there have been many many changes.

If you or any of your friends are members of AAA you can get a tour book from them that lists all their approved hotels/motels.  It will also give you locations, prices and where points of interest are.  It is a great resource for visitors.
