yesterday the man who killed my son's neighbor 2 yrs ago was convicted of murder, although he claimed self-defense---------surprising in texas------a big Stand your ground state---------but he took his own video camera with him when he went to complain about a noisy party---and he was saying "i'm in fear for my life" ----- before he even reached the other house, practiced from his cdl classesthe young man he killed was a middle school pe teacher----a husband, father , son and brother---------he was having a bd party for his wife---------------a karioke machine was involved-----------there were kids present------------my g.s. had been over there with some of his friends and had returned home before the shooting but heard it all--------------the police had been called more than once by this individual ---------they told him the noise was with-in acceptible levelsthe perp was a retired firefighter who had been a neighborhood bully for yrs-----------he had pulled his gun numerous times on animals, kids and adults-------------his union said he was the only member ever voted out by the membershipsince monday last week the news channels have been showing this video tape he made------showing this young man facing him with his arms in the air -------------and the perp repeating i'm gonna have to shoot---i'm in fear for my life----------------at last today this jury will get to hear ALL about this individual and maybe they will give him life as he deservesa really sad part of the story is that his father (by coincidence my neighbor) didn't live long enough to see justice as he passed away last month
Driving to a police station or even a fire station is always a good idea. Calling someone from your car unless you are pulled over to a stop is NOT a good idea. In California it is against the law to use your cell phone while driving. TEXTing is also against the law. Large fines apply!!!
let me state clearly-------i am not against guns or the stand your ground law----------just mentally ill people who happen to pass the course and get a permit to carry------------texas is very lax on this matter-------------since they recognize courses from other states too---------recently it has been in the news about being able to get a cert on-line for money from one of these statestexas stand your ground law is also very lenient-------------------so the jury could actually have gone the other way---------since they only learned in the punishment phase yesterday --some of the truly awful things he had done and the fear and loathing of his neighbors and co-workers for several yrs before he did this
