Now is the season for giving,do something nice for an elderly person or someone who is in need. Most of us already do this. This should be a happy time for all of us but for some it is a very depressing time.A kind gesture would make a difference in their lives.A phone call,a card,a visit or some homemade goodies would be well received.I lost my my little lady friend a couple of months ago,she was 103 years old and I miss her so much she was so nice to talk with.I still have one little lady friend who is almost 100 years old,she is always on my list Christmas and whenever I bake something.God Bless you all now and always.Have a wonderful holiday season.

What a wonderful idea!  I live in a cluster of condos, and some of the residents are in their 100th year, or coming really close to that number.  Those of us, who are younger.....in our 70's or 80's......look out for the older ones.  Someone is always baking, running errands, or just getting together for a chat.  I would hope that all that read this would consider doing something of the sort.  All of us will be "old" someday.....and we might be looking for a chat or a cookie or someone to run an errand.  Think about it!

I used to shovel snow for my elderly neighbors.  They moved away several years ago, but as I was doing it, I always thought that I hope I am "paying it forward" and that some day when I need help someone will be there to help me.

I sent over a small care package to my very dear friend, she is in her nineties. There were some store bought things and several homemade items. She called to thank me.Even though we are four decades apart in age she is a very dear friend and I have learned a lot from her.She is very knowledgeable about plants and herbs. She is also an accomplished artist. Her and her hubby were nationally know for their ceramics.Their work is displayed in our art museum.I'm truly blessed to have her in my life.

I gave out 4 care packages on Thursday, and I gave out 9 more today!! I have
been doing this since 2005.  The people that I give them to are so happy to get
them.  It makes you feel really great to know that they look forward to them.
Some of them really need them.

Yesterday I took my alumn cake pan of cookies to the local police station.  The man who accepted them was so kind and GOOD I decided to take New Years cookies next week.
And the youth minister and his wife work so very hard and so quietly.  She is just crazy about peanut brittle and will not consider trying to make it.  So yesterday afternoon I made her FOUR batches (they are small) and put them on a pretty tray.  This morning I'll sneak that into their car.

Those random acts of kindness make the world a much better place.  And what better time of the year than Christmas, for giving?

I am looking after the home of my wonderful German neighbors.  They have shared w/me their version of life in Germany during World War II.  I never thought about what happened to the everyday German citizens!  I am also baking bread the day the return.  They bless me!

One of the members of my church is a police office in the 'big city'.  His wife told him I took cookies to the local police station and he came to me this morning to say that there's no way I can even imagine how much  the police appreciated someone saying "Thanks" and knowing they are out there on a holiday.
That strengthens my plan to take something on New Years

Thanks all for the great ideas to "pay it forward".  I spent this morning writing checks to the great veterans organizations that send me mail all year long.  All of these organizations help disabled veterans.  It's so sad that our government spends our money on other countries and seems to forget the veterans that make this a safe place to live.

Merry Christmas to all!

I have to agree with you H.M. I see it everyday and it's a crying shame.Charity should begin at home.Especially for those that have given us so much of themselves.
