Any of you go to the "gray Thursday" shopping stuff that starts Thanksgiving evening or midnight?  I can't imagine needing anything so bad I'd go shopping in the middle of the night.  I hate

On my way to work this morning about 6;15, the number of cars in the mall lot was amazing.  People are nuts.

I have never stood in line to get into a store for a sale.
I just know that if I did the one thing that I would want would be gone by the time I got in the store.
I will pay a bit more for the TV or Laptop I want so I am not just grabbing an unknown brand or just grabbing because I am there.
I think the common sense thought process goes out the window when you get into the frenzy mode that is encouraged. (and yes I know the term common sense is an oxymoron)

i gave that up years ago one early a.m. opening at a target store when the item i wanted (an rca stereo that my son wanted )  was on the very top shelf out of every ones reach  and while waiting for the empl to bring a ladder             an obnoxious gang of youths climbed the shelves and handed them all down to their friends and family

I went out this morning and every store was packed -- even the highway to the next town was packed.   I drove by Walmart, then Michaels and their  parking lots were packed. The nice grocery store I went to was packed but each cash register was manned so there were no long lines.

I had to go shopping again tonight .... Walmart around 5PM.   It was crowded but not packed and there were plenty of checkers.  One told me that last night her daughter's face was clubbed by a woman's elbow.  That woman wanted the last sheet set and got it.  There was a big, bad fist fight that the police had to come to break up.  The entire night was a nightmare.

I like to shop all year around and when on vacation I usually see something for someone and I buy it.  I pick things up all year long.

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! In my small town there is only one store & that's Walmart so you can guess the frenzy there. I'm only guessing also as i would never go shopping in the night unless i needed to! Smile

I would much rather be here at home with my two dogs than in a crowded store full of people. The Christmas holiday is to celebrate the birth of Christ and it seems to bring the worst out in some people. They fight over material things and hurt people.Somewhere around here some people rushed a store door because they couldn't get in fast enough and broke the glass door ,trampled a person who was already cut up due to the broken glass. So sad!

just as last year i'm giving gift cards again
i will buy them at kroger between the 1st and 11th of december    because i will get 4X the purchase price on gasoline points and get a big savings on gas to fill all our gas cans again

i used to shop all year to give a small gift bag filled with little gifts to each child , like little gloves, caps and hair trinkets, stick on earrings,  toothbrushes, toiletry samples, etc.  and each family got a box of the Weekly Reader editor's Choice books from qvc
now all the kids except 2 have aged out of this   choice
so i give them barnes and noble gift cards
i'm not able any longer to go through the stores (dollar)   looking for these small surprises

Didn't go shopping on Thursday or Friday.  I had too many other things to do and I just can't stand all the pushing and shoving.

I would never go out on Black Friday or "Grey Thursday".  I just don't like crowds.  I however, did go to the grocery store, but it was fine.  About the same as usual.   Nellie, I'm sort of like you in that the grandkids have about outgrown the special gifts.  All but one are in college and high school.  I think there will be either Barnes and Noble gift  cards or maybe Amazon gift cards under the tree.  The 12 year old will probably get gifts, if her mother can give me some ideas.

Like you, Nikki, I don't think there's anything I would want or need badly enough to deal with the crowds in the stores or on the road.
