SusieSew, I come from a very versified family. My great, great way back there in the 1500's or 1600's grandfather bought Long Island from the Indians. There are castles overseas with my maiden name along with towns, entire cemeteries and counties. My family was super rich apparently. Darn it though, they blew it all someplace along the line! The only thing left on my dads side of the family that was passed to my brother was a guitar that daddy had bought. No property or anything else. That was the entire estate. We do have lots of memories though. On my moms side is the Cherokee people. My great grandfather was a medicine man I am told. He and my great grandmother died of the "sickness" which I believe was yellow fever. Their daughter, my maternal grandmother, was raised by her moms sisters who were white and taught her to be ashamed of being half Cherokee. And my moms dad was pure Irish, loved to drink, gamble and chase women. He was also a water witch and made part of his living finding where to dig wells for the farmers. The rest of the time, he was a wheeler and dealer. Remember Mr. Haney on Green Acres? I always think of him when I think of my grandpa.

Wow....that is some history and yes, what wonderful memories you will always have. I really enjoyed reading your families history and thanks for sharing!
I really don't know much about my family history, was never talked about much. Don't know why though! My cousin had to do a family tree for a school project and her researching found that some of the our ancestors where carpet baggers, horse thieves and boot leggers. Wow...that's exciting! lol
Thanks again Wa-ha!!
