School is almost out!!

our kids just have 3 more school days left------scary

my travel mode has been doubled this week--------because my dil normally takes him to school and i pick him up---------------but now in high school----------if they are passing a course and don't miss that class for the last 4 wks------they are exempt from the final  in that class

my g.s. only has 2 tests for classes he missed for orthodontist -----his schedule this week is ------9 a.m-----to1:05 p.m. on tuesday and wednesday-----------but thursday he goes in at 9 a.m. and gets out at 9:25 a.m.-----i'm taking my water bottle and a book and waiting there

I'll tell you Nellie I don't miss that taxi service(Mom's Taxi Service) We did 'nt qualify for busing only 2 miles from the school.I always drove them to and from school.The walk is all main roads and the school wasn't in a very good area so I drove them.No more driving for me now they drive me around,I kinda like this!

they are far enough away for the bus----------but on a dead end street----------so the bus lets the kids out at the last street crossing----say they can't turn around----------the garbage truck does----------they don't live in a bad area---just rural-------------but with-in a mile there are 2 different capital murderers still waiting trial-------one happened on the land just across the street by a neighbor  the other body was dumped so i don't know where it actually happened -------------------also several registered sexoffenders-------------they are everywhere-here in tx you can look on a register to check

since he returns home alone --------i always wait for him to go in the house before i leave--------

wow i feel for you my children are all grown up  we were lucky bus stopped at our street . we didnt worry about   s offenders  as much as today scarry if you think about we were in the dark about them never knew where they lived . today we can look them up and see where they live

The last year my youngest went to school (5 years ago) The janitor took trash out to the dumpster and must have walked in on a drug deal and was shot in the head,he was found dead the next morning in the school yard.When I dropped him off everyday I made sure he got in the door before I pulled away.If you are late by only a few minutes you had to go in another door.I just wanted to make sure he was safe before leaving.The Cleveland Police are on guard there during school hours inside and out.I'm sure glad that they both graduated and not there anymore.It's sad too,my brother, sister, brother in law and I graduated from there.it was so so very different then.

We only have grandkids in school.  The two oldest boys are in college.  We have one Junior in High School, and she goes to a Charter School in Oakland, CA.  It is in a pretty good area of the city and only 1/2 block from a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station.  There is a security officer at the front door of the school, and he knows every kid by name.  Anyway her mother drops her at a nearby BART station and she rides that to school, and home.  We feel pretty good about her as she is 5' 9" tall and usually wears Doc Martin boots.  She looks about 22, and frankly I don't think anyone would mess with her.  She is a dancer and goes to the School of the ARTS, plus she is very strong! 
We also have a Freshman in a public school ( her parents take her and pick her up).  And the youngest is in middle school, and my husband takes her to school every day, as her mother is taking her sister to BART at the same time. I know when our kids were in school, we relied on buses and car pools.

Our Dancer is going to New York this summer for a 6 week intensive dance training program with the Alvin Ailey School of Dance.  She will be staying in the Fordham University dorm which I hear is about 1 1/2 blocks from the studio.  It is going to be a real adventure for her, and should get her ready to go away to college next year.

My Grandson has about a week left.  He will spend some some time at camp but some time with me.  Not sure I could keep up with him for an entire summer when I have to keep an eye on my husband as well. I will get someone to watch my husband so I can do things with my Grandson. This will be an interesting and busy summer to say the least.

I will get someone to watch my husband so I can do things with my Grandson. This will be an interesting and busy summer to say the least.

Nikki, what a wonderful person and grandmother you are for helping with the care of your grandson. I know his Mom must be VERY appreciative. We had no family or close friends around when our sons were growing up, and I worked full time out of necessity. I know how wonderful it would have been to have someone like you nearby.

Yes, another school year almost over.  They just seem to fly by.  Always have to be more careful during the summer with all the kids running around.  Especially the ones who play in the street.  I used to think that was just a "big city" thing but it's becoming more prevalent in the suburbs too.

it's actually much worse out here than it could ever be in town----------less patrol cars to go around-----------and they all seem to have some kind of gas or battery powered thing to ride in the street----------we had one boy that had something like a soap box cart (very flat, low and fast) that he would ride around the corners without stopping ----------he actually came up and asked if i would give him enough gas to make it home one day----------you know how that went-------he had to push it all the way home-------------thinking about my cruel laughter

My kids only have a few more days left.  They are both done on Wednesday.  My oldest has exams this week and is only in school
for a short time each day.  The other has full days all week.
