In Response to Re: School is almost out!!:
We only have grandkids in school. The two oldest boys are in college. We have one Junior in High School, and she goes to a Charter School in Oakland, CA. It is in a pretty good area of the city and only 1/2 block from a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station. There is a security officer at the front door of the school, and he knows every kid by name. Anyway her mother drops her at a nearby BART station and she rides that to school, and home. We feel pretty good about her as she is 5' 9" tall and usually wears Doc Martin boots. She looks about 22, and frankly I don't think anyone would mess with her. She is a dancer and goes to the School of the ARTS, plus she is very strong! We also have a Freshman in a public school ( her parents take her and pick her up). And the youngest is in middle school, and my husband takes her to school every day, as her mother is taking her sister to BART at the same time. I know when our kids were in school, we relied on buses and car pools. Our Dancer is going to New York this summer for a 6 week intensive dance training program with the Alvin Ailey School of Dance. She will be staying in the Fordham University dorm which I hear is about 1 1/2 blocks from the studio. It is going to be a real adventure for her, and should get her ready to go away to college next year.
