In Response to Re: How are you saving money on meals with all the increases? : I make a Hungarian chicken stuffing I saute them and  use them in that or I fry up a bunch with butter and onions and blend this in the food processor.I make liver pate this is chilled and served with crackers or cocktail bread as an appetizer during the holidays.another Eastern European recipe.

give me that recipe   please      i can buy chicken livers in a pkg and make that
have you ever tried freezing the pate' ?
although i love all kinds of liver products            it doesn't love me well
for a long time now if i eat a lot the glands under my tongue swell some
i've been avoiding this    and enjoying liver more often     because my cleaning lady loves it too
so if i get livers we eat together     and she takes the rest home with her

Nellie all I do is buy a container of chicken livers and wash and pull out any membranes.I pat them dry.Sauté 2-3 nice size yellow cooking onions in a stick of real butter you can use salted or unsalted your choice,After they are well carmelized (do this on a lower heat the longer you cook them the sweeter the onions become). Now add the chicken livers and cook until done.Season to taste with salt and black pepper.Cool and blend them in a food processor or blender. If it is too thick add a little chicken broth not too much or it will not be thick enough to spread. As far as freezing goes I had never done this.I make this only for Christmas when it's gone it's gone.

like most people, i use my discount cards+coupons+store sales.  I make my list based on coupons and need before i leave the house.  i get coupons from paper, smart phone and internet.  I also make things from scratch, taste better and less expensive.  I also keep a clipboard with lists inside my pantry on it, are : 1) meals i have complete ingredients for 2) meals i need an ingredient for and those go to my grocery list when i want them.  I also use my vacuum sealer to seal everything not canned in my pantry, keeps them fresher and safe from humidity.  I organize everything in containers, so nothing ever gets lost in the back of a shelf (can't afford to remodel and put in new pantry), I also arrange my pantry by meals.  for instance, all dry/canned ingredients i need to make spaghetti are together. My refrigerator is also very well organized; snacks are in clear, inexpensive bins, all condiments on the door, all drinks together, all yogurt in a bin so none get lost in the back of the fridge.  clear bins make make things so easy to find and i bought a variety pack of 6 square containers(with lids) on sale for $4 then used store coupons for $1.50 off each pack sold.  when not in use, they stack inside of each other. last thing i do is my grocery list; when i use something, i put it back on a seperate list with eachingredient used if all used up (like lasagna noodles or my last sweet potato) ... hope this helps someone! Smile

I'm going to start buying whole chickens again .I'll cut  them up myself and make  meals packages and soup packages wth the backs, wings and giblets. When I cut them up I have a plastic cutting board that I lay on a cookie sheet so I don't contaminate my work area and I cut the chickens up there.I used to do this all te time and I've just gotten lazy.I bought 4 yesterday and paid 95 cents a pound which is a decent price.
