Well I went shopping yesterday too much stuff going on today.The BOGO boneless pork loins were a disappointment.They were charging $5.99 a pound that;s not a bargain at all.So that @ sale price was $2.98 a # still a horrible deal.Normally they have them for $1.99 a pound on sale so I walked away from this.I bought pork b- - t roasts for $1.99 a pound.I can cut those up myself,or grind the meat to make some of my homemade sausage.I save the bones to put in a pot of homemade spaghetti sauce.pork bones with a little meat on them make the best sauce. Pork B- - T makes excellent pulled pork sandwiches.Not allowed to use the B word so it's pork rear end ! lol lol lol so silly!!! I bought 12 boxes of pizza rolls at a $1 apiece with my coupons were .50 a piece.4 soft soap hand wash at $1 apiece with my coupons.30 cents apiece.Italian ice were BOGO with my coupons it brought it down to 2/$2.78.I bought 4 more packages of Scott paper towels 6 packages for $3.50 a package after my coupons were taken off.Not a bad day of shopping it was more of a stock up shopping trip.Oh and this was a managers special 1# packages of ButterBall turkey balogna for.99 cents I bought 6 pkgs and put them in the freezer.These guys here love fried balogna sandwiches.Meat prices continue to climb.The only way to beat that is to buy a surplus amount when it goes on sale.

 Gale, you are so right about stocking up on meat when on sale. My goal is to feed the freezer with the main entree & forget about making things easier for me (no more making batches of stuffed cabbage, peppers etc. & stocking the freezer to save me work & time).

My daughter owns a Bar and Grill and she gets me food from Thompson Foods when she ordrs for the
Bar and Grill. Anyone that owns a place of business can help you out with their orders.

Sunday Big Lots had a 20% sale on anything in the store. The coupon was in the newspaper or handed out in the store.

 eating less of everything
 when buying meats; marked downs when  I can; select grade rather than choice & marinating  less expensive tougher meats  meats or stewingthem to tenderize.
 buing roduce in season 9winter squash; apples& potatoesand building  mealsaround theseseasonalbargains aplecrisp  acorn squashfilledw/ sweetpeas& pearl onion, spaghetti squash  w/  rattatouille(  egplant uchinni & tomato stew ( meatless)
sharing lunchspecialtakeout meals,adding oemadesoup & saladso  onemealserves2 sufficiently.Theonewe hadlast Saturday gotusedup today byaddinga few homemadeapetizers to the planovers from theorigial meal; forusadding soupssalads& fruitdesserts isan easy way to makeone mealserve4 w/ enoughdifferences at eachmealto kep itinteresting w/o  exhaustin"the chef" ( me)Wink 
 One day w hadchili topedw/ Mexican blendcheese planoverswer e next  chili bean soup; then Mexi omeletsw/ morecheese nextwillbe  tacos bypureeingthe  chili /  frozen coked beans
I actually enjoy  coming p w/  waysto  reinvent our meals finding it a challenge& a time and money saver  tooWinkMoney mouth

I really bought a lot of food over the past two weeks so this was a stock up day for me.I bought 5- 6 mega roll pkgs of paper towels the price was $6.99 each I got a rain check for $4.99 each and used .75 cent coupon on each which was doubled bringing each down to $3.49,that's half price.I bought 2 cans of garbonzo beans,2 large jello cook and serve pudding that's going towards Thanksgiving meal ,a bunch of celery,20 Yoplait yogurts and 4 Mrs.Smiths frozen apple pies these were 2 /$10 I had coupons for $1.50 off each plus got a bonus of .40 cents off a gal of gas up to 30 gallons.My bill before coupons was $78.31 after it was $39.56 and I received a coupon for $2 off my next shopping trip.Next week sales starts tomorrow and they have ground beef on sale I plan on buying at least 20 #.

Pork B- TT Roast on sale this week for $1.49 a pound I'm going to buy 4 or 5 to make some more of my Hungarian fresh sausage.I'll get that out of the way and that will be one less thing to do later.This is so silly that you can't say that second word on this site.

I bought ground beef for a $1.99 a pound.I bought 30# at that price.Hubby wants me to buy 30 more #'s. It's been going around here for $2.59 on sale and all the way up to $3.59.I'll repack this all in freezer bags in 1 and 2 pound packages and freeze this.Beef will last about a year or more in the freezer.I found 3# bags of onions for .59 cents a bag.Mrs. Smith's fruit pies on sale for $2.98 and I had 4 coupons for $1.50 off each total cost for 4 was $5.92 not a bad deal at all.They aren't as good as homemade butI'll keep them frozen then in a pinch we'll still have a pie for dessert.Good to have on hand when cash is low.My brother found pork roast for $1.19 even a better deal than I found I'll probably get a few more at that price.

I have cut down on the amounts I cook which was hard, but with only two people at home...If I have leftovers, I try to make a different type of meal with them by adding spices, sauces or making my own soup instead of canned since there is too much salt in them and it definitely is more economical to make your own. Leftover chicken or turkey make great soup.

Another money saving tip,buy whole chickens when they are on sale cut them up yourself package and freeze .Save the backs,necks and giblets minus the liver to make homemade chicken stock.You can even brown these first and it will give your stock a rich color and flavor.Buy whole cuts of meat like whole boneless pork loin these can be cut up into chunks about 1" and can be used for city chicken,cut smaller and used in pork fried rice,cut thin and pounded out for schnitzel,breaded boneless pork loin chops, cut thick and butterflied and stuffed with bread stuffing.Bone in roasts can be cut up and ground, save the bones for other uses like pasta sauce or just roasted as is for pulled pork or pork and gravy.I buy whole chuck roast when these are on sale to be ground,or cubed to be used in stew,thinly sliced for stroganoff, beef and brown gravy or pepper steak.Save any bones to use for soup stock.With a little time and work this can lead to big savings.

We've been most fortunate inthat our kids have sent us Om**a Steaks for Christmas gifts in the past and two of them went together and bought us a gift card to be used to purchase meat throughout the year.  They wanted to buy us a quarter of a cow but weren't able to negotiate that deal last year.  They each live in a different state and had to depend on the butcher here to help them out.  He said he didn't have any beef quarters ready at the time they wanted to buy.  So, they sent a gift card from a local W**l*art for a tidy sum to be used for meat.  We still have about $23 dollars on the card.  That should just about hold us through the year.

If you kids want gift-giving ideas, this has worked well for us.  I pay for everything else but the meat and use the card for that.

I look for reduced items at the grocery store because they usually lower the price and give you a large portion.  The other day, I found a large package of onions for only 99 cents at SuperKMart.  I took them home, cleaned them, chopped them and then put them in the freezer.  I pull out what I need when I make soups or casseroles.  I've done this with peppers and celery too.

I make a Hungarian chicken stuffing I saute them and  use them in that or I fry up a bunch with butter and onions and blend this in the food processor.I make liver pate this is chilled and served with crackers or cocktail bread as an appetizer during the holidays.another Eastern European recipe.

I bought 20 bottles of  2 in 1 bottles of shampoo and conditioner and 15 bottles of dish soap My bill was $25.29 with a savings of $31.40.I did other shopping also total I spent this week was $ 75 all sale items.
