I don't think that I am saving at all. I do try to buy what is on sale and yes, we are eating less meat, but everything else is so expensive too. My husband doesn't want to drive all over to save a few cents while spending dollars on gasoline. Pretty soon we all will be experiencing rationing like we did as children during WWII.

GRANA here;
The reality is that we no longer save money on groceries; too hard & it's a fight each week at the store when coupons are not  credited, sale/ad prices not honored; I've stopped shopping; hubby goes to battle w/o me &  either gets the right price or abandons the product.He's not embarrassed & nearby shoppers cheer him on; store seems not to notice or care..I know times are tough but cheating regular cutomers is not the answer.or at least should not be the answer
Yell
We buy less; have switched to  lower priced  items;use coupons; shop ads; buy marked downs&  then try to  get those savings at the checkout.... It's just not worth it ) damaging our health to save a few Cents or  $$$$$$$$$$$$$...I know we're being cowards& letting "them" win but I don't want to lose my husband to a heart attack or stroke over this.
I inform new neighbors of the store's policy& suggest they shop elsewhere some(very few) stores are more honest &accurate though a longer drive to shop there.
Are any of you experiencing this same battle when shopping????

GRANA here;
Not able to save money at the grocery store: sale items out of stock or sale prices not honored
Hubby suggested we eat out or take out lunch specials(one to share. Portions are so huge that  we get 4 servings from one meal, by adding broth to start   fruit or /cookies to finish ; sometimes small salad rounds out the meal; sometimes marked down day old d bread does it.
Another dessert option ads protein : GREEK yogurt cups or frozen tubes
Due to the high  temps, I'm pleased to go along  w/ his clever  idea

I've been buying very little at the grocery stores lately.  Usually I just buy fresh fruit and some vegetables.  If something is a really good price, and the expiration date is far enough ahead, I will buy it but nothing at regular price unless I absolutely need it right away.  Some of our stores have discontinued items marked down but sometimes it's still too high priced.
