Rolling Skating

Well my 11yr old is going roller skating (last week bowling) tonight. I feel bad that I will NOT be skating with her because I do not know how; and she has done it with her father. Since hubby is working I can't be on the floor with her because I do not want to break any bones! LOL Is this easy for kids to pick up?

seems to be, but never for me i was never able to master that maybe because we were in high school before i tried it and the younger ones just seem to watch a few minutes and go
same with swimming

It takes a little time but when my two girls were under 10 we decided that we should learn to skate. It was fun for all and I picked it up fairly easy as did they but I never learned how to stop as every time I tried I fell. I stopped by running into a wall on purpose! I could go in circles & everything else but couldn't stop!

I skated every week in my pre and teen years.I was OK my cousin learned to skate with a partner to music she was really good.I think kids pick it up a lot faster than adults.

She is invited to 2 more skating parties and she seems to be picking it up! I told my husband we should try and do this more often just the 3 of us! LOL

My sister and I used to roller skate in the street with those clip on skates. We were pretty good, but when it came to indoor skating with the wooden floor and wood rollers on the skates ---not so easy

I was in my sixties when I decided I should learn to roller blade! That was fun, but one day I said to myself, "you've lived this long without a broken bone, what in the world are you doing?" I never skated again. I think it was a very good decision.

I don't roller skate. I don't ice skate. I have bad ankles and I think that is the problem. I know the skates for ice are a bit different than roller skates but I just never got interested in roller skating.
Now my main thought is I prefer my bones in one piece thank you very much!

My Grandson roller blades and for him it is just as easy as walking.
I think with kids they have no fear of falling or breaking a bone so they dive in with exuberance.

I roller skated for years when I was young. I also had the clip on skates. We roller skated on the sidewalk in front of our house. We did live on a state highway, but that didn't seem to stop us. There was a roller rink in town, but it was a treat to go there. I even learned to "cross over" when going around the turns. We had to go to the Ice rink in the next town to skate. That was a real treat!!

My grand daughter used to take ice skating lessons, and did pretty well, but moved on to other activities (ie horseback riding.) Since I have bad knees, I no longer try to skate. I do remember when my daughter used to take roller skating lessons to earn a Girl Scout Badge.

Now, I watch the kids and adults at the ice rink near our condo at Tahoe. I am happy to sit there with a nice Starbucks drink!!!

Ah, roller skating, lol. Never did that since I am uncoordinated! When I was a teenager I was invited to go ice skating. Wouldn't you know, I couldn't go because I had tonsillitis. By the time my friends decided to go again I was in the hospital having those rotten tonsils out lol. Just as well since I probably would've broken some bones.
