THE OTHER DAY MY 12 YR. OLD AND MYSELF WERE SHOPPING.HE NOTICED THERE WERE MANY OLDER PEOPLE IN THE STORE.AS SOON AS WE WALKED IN HE NOTICE THIS VERY TINY VERY OLD SWEET WOMAN STRUGGLING TO GET A CART

THE OTHER DAY MY 12 YR. OLD AND MYSELF WERE SHOPPING.HE NOTICED THERE WERE MANY OLDER PEOPLE IN THE STORE.AS SOON AS WE WALKED IN HE NOTICE THIS VERY TINY VERY OLD SWEET WOMAN STRUGGLING TO GET A CART OUT. SEVERAL PEOPLE WENT BY HER GRABBING A CART. HE WENT OVER THERE PULLED IT OUT. SHE SMILED AND THANKED HIM.I PATTED HIS BACK.DURING OUR SHOPPING TRIP HE DID MANY KIND THINGS FOR OTHER PEOPLE.MANY ASKED HIM TO REACH FOR THINGS ON THE TOP SHELF, HE IS 12 BUT IS CLOSE TO 6 FT. TALL.HE DID NOT HEITATE ONCE TO HELP THESE PEOPLE. HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY OTHERS WOULD PASS THEM BY AS IF THEY WERE NOT THERE. I ALWAYS TOLD HIM TO BE AWARE OF PEOPLE IN NEED OF HELP OR JUST A SMILE.IN THE LINE THE WOMAN WITH THE CART THANKED HIM AGAIN AS HE HELPED HER WITH HER BAGS..SHE TOLD ME I SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF HIM.I SMILED AND TOLD HER I'AM VERY PROUD OF HIM.ONCE IN THE CAR I LEANED OVER KISSED HIS CHEEK.HE SMILED AT ME.HE SAID SOME DAY I MAY NEED SOMES HELP, MAYBE NOT REACHING THE TOP SHELF, BUT BENDING OVER TO GET TO THE BOTTOM SHELF. HE SAID IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, THE HUMAN THING TO DO..HE IS SO RIGHT, WE HUMANS TEND TO FORGET THAT AT TIMES..WE ALL NEED TO BE REMINDED... THANKS TO MY SON MARK, YOUR A GREAT KID...STAY THAT WAY ALWAYS.

You did a good job Julie.  I too taught my kids to help out wherever they could, especially older folks.  We all need to help each other whenever possible, that's what makes the world go round lol.  God bless.

Very nice story.I see may to much of people acting badly.Great job with your son.Real cute what he said about the bottom shelf.He seems like a great kid.I hope he stays the same as he grows older.I read on another part of the web, you want more details of my wedding.It is still on hold. My wonderful grandma fell a month ago.I can not have my wedding without her there.Even with her insisting I do.We decided to wait.I was thinking if your son was around for my grandma,she may not have fallen at the store.I was told several people passed her as she was on the ground.An older woman got help for my grandma.She is doing better.I will let you know about the details...You should be most proud of your son.He shall be a great man some day. He has a heart

NICE STORY JULIE B. YOUR SON LEARNED TO BE LIKE THAT THANKS TO YOU.I'VE READ YOUR STORIES YOU DO SO MUCH FOR OTHER PEOPLE. YOU DO IT BECAUSE IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. THAT IS A GREAT LESSON..I WILL USE IT IN MY CLASS TODAY.IT IS LIKE THAT IN LIFE, SO MANY PASS BY A SITUATION THEY SHOULD HAVE STEPPED IN TO HELP, BUT DID NOT.I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT AT ALL..HE IS A GREAT KID.

Yes, I so agree, it is a winderful story. I wish more people were like your son.What a world that would be,wonderful.I do agree with Gus it is a gift he learned form you.What a great young man.
  Gus , i do hope your grandma will be alright.I can understand why you are waiting.Good luck.I will keep her in my prayers.

Julie,
 Thanks for the idea.I 'am using this life lesson as a class project.They are to keep journals of random acts of kindness towards other people. They will be writing about each one.I have some great caring students in my classes.They help at the shelters,soup kitchens,all sorts of things.They may have a hard time.Their random acts of kindness is a norm for them.Much like your son.I will let you know how it turns out. thanks for the idea.This is the second idea I got from you.The last one was to help a vet or write to a person in the service.That project went very well.The students are still writing.

 REALLY NICE IDEA.I HOPE IT HELPS THE KIDS TO LEARN A LIFE LESSON.FOR THE STUDENTS THAT ARE AWARE THEY WILL ALSO LEARN MANY THINGS.

Your son Mark sounds like quite the boy, Julie! After reading many of your posts and stories, I think I'd have to say he learned by watching you. You sound like such a sweet, caring person. I have never understood how anyone can walk by someone who needs help. My goodness, especially if they've fallen like your grandma, Gus. People have to be inhuman to just walk by like that! I'm always helping people out if I can. I'm not very big but I've always helped older ladies who either can't reach up to get something off a shelf in the store or else they can't bend down to get it off a lower shelf. What's really funny is when I shop, even in the winter, I take my coat off in the store and put it in my cart because I'm usually quite warm. Well, I have all kinds of people coming up to me and asking me where this or that is located in the store. They think I work there because I'm not wearing a coat!! Strange though....they even do it in the summertime. If I don't know where the item is located, I usually tell them I'm not sure, that I don't work there. Otherwise, I just simply tell them where in the store to look for whatever. Your son's comment is too cute but so true.....someday we will all be there where we need someone else's help. I'm short and one day while shopping a tall lady saw me trying to get something off the top shelf....it was pushed back from the front. She kindly reached it for me....without me even asking her. I thanked her and she responded.....no problem, we all need help now and then. Wouldn't it be terrific if everyone in the whole world had that attitude?!

 thank you for the very kind and uplifting words.I'am lucky all my kids go out of the way to help others.I always told my kids it iseasier to be nice than mean.they asked me why. I TELL THEM GOD AND ALL HIS GOODNESS ARE IN YOU.being bad is way to much work.It seems to work.

Julie thanks for the great story,you have done a wonderful job raising your son,I too have two great boys who are more than happy to help someone in need.I spend most of my time in a wheelchair and believe me it's so appreciated when you need the help.
