As one of our wise VBB bakers recently warned on this site, the cost of milk is on the rise. A half gallon was on sale for $2.79 today, and a gallon was $3.99. Ouch.

I drink soy milk and that is about $3.00 a 1/2 gallon. They say bottled water is more expensive.

I found milk yesterday for $3.09 in a grocery outlet store. I also got several 32 ounce bottles of Nestle Quick strawberry milk. It makes a good snack and it was only .89 a bottle! And I love that fake strawberry taste.

Another year of kicking the can down the road?  I have a feeling since this isn't an election year that those nuts in Washington won't be in any hurry to "fix" things permanently.  Hope I'm wrong!

I remember "way back when"....milk was too expensive to even think about.  This was during the time that "the powder" was used.  I hated that stuff!!  It always smelled musty and tasted even worse!  I swore then I would never make my family drink that awful stuff!!  Perhaps I was too hasty!!  May have to rearrange my thinking!  I do remember also that my Mother put a drop or two of vanilla in that stuff, and it was easier (but not by much!) to get down.

I remember way back when - dad had dairy cows and sold Grade B milk (no electricity so no cooling or automatic machines) .  I guess that tiny amount of income was all there was and every drop was precious.  One period of time mom tried to make us drink powdered milk Yell  That's all there was.

YUCK. My mom made me drink powdered milk when small as I was allergic to milk & some other things. I wish she had known about the vanilla trick!

The last 2 times I purchased milk at our Pick 'N Save, with instore coupons, I paid $2.29 for a gallon of 2%, and the last time I was at our Aldi's, I had seen a gallon of 2% was $2.99.
