I heard yesterday that pork prices are going up.That means bacon too! I know there is some pork on sale here in this coming week I'm going to start stocking up now before it starts going up.I really want to have pork for the winter holidays.Boneless pork loin is BOGO but who knows how much that will be they never tell you.Boston Bu-t roasts are $1.99 a pound.I love those for pulled pork and even making sausage it has some fat on it and that really adds to the flavor of the pork.I had to edit the B word this is so silly.

I have quite a bit of pork in the freezer now but I plan on getting a few more cuts to "squirrel" away.
I think I may take some country ribs out for dinner tomorrow or Friday.

I am so lucky that we have our own meat to butcher.

Fortunately we're not pork fans. I barbecue chops occasionally, and that's about it. About 2 years ago I switched to turkey bacon, so I won't worry about the price of bacon sky rocketing again.

I  heard this today.  I'm sure it will be the first of many things that are going to be more expensive because of the drought.

Unfortunately, you're right Debbie.  Of course even if things are not affected by the "drought" the prices will be going up.  So much for all that nonsense about no inflation!

Instead of freezing fresh vegs. & fruit (other than the bell peppers from the garden) I am saving the freezer space for meat. I am buying canned vegs. & fruit when on sale ( more than usual).

What's new?  All food prices are out of sight.  We can only do our best to use all of our leftover food.

All we can do is buy extra to stock away and use our food wisely.Make our meat stretch by making dishes that don't require a lot of meat.We as Americans consume too much meat anyways.I made a huge pot of Beef Barley soup.I used 1# of ground beef and veggies, soup base and barley this soup is great I think the whole pot costs between 5 and $6 The three of us will get a couple of meals out of that pot of soup.I buy ground turkey to mix in with beef and pork to stretch it .Turkey is a very high protein meat and is a healthier choice.

I got a very nice pork roast today on sale at $1.49 a pound.  Not sure if I'm going to grind it for sausage or just cut up for stew and boneless pork chops.  That's tomorrow's project lol.

Since just about all the stores have pork on sale right now, this is the time to stock up.
