Pizza!!!

It made me feel sooo good that my husband said to me "you know i'm in the mood for some of your home made pizza". I was taken back because I feel like I don't make the best, because I haven't mastered or shall I say found the best crust to make yet. I am always up for suggestions on what makes the best. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to VBB, Celeste. Way back when I made my own pizza dough, but I'm getting wiser with age. I now buy the packets of pizza crust mix where you just add water. They're available in most markets and at Target. I also like the pre-made dough available in the refrigerator section of Trader Joe's.

Hi Celeste! I haven't found a good pizza dough yet either but Trader Joes' is really good. Strangely enough I just got done with lunch right now and was judging a pizza dough & then I see your post! Let me know if you find a good one?

I have been experimenting with pizza dough I think the secret is using bread flour and olive oil.But I'm still working on it.My brother makes deep dish pizza using his cast iron pan in the oven to bake it.

Many grocery stores now sell bags of dough for pizza. It should be in the refrigerated section probably near the bakery.
Many pizza places will also sell you a bit of dough. ( The family owned ones not the chains as many of theirs are pre formed.)

Gale, You are right on the bread flour and olive oil. My pizza crust recipe uses
both. I used this pizza crust recipe since 2011 and hubby has not wanted any
other pizza since. I never really liked pizza crust until I made this one. Now I
always eat the crust. It also smells so good when you are making it. It is worth
the time and effort. I made the mistake of giving hubby my password on my
email, so now he goes on my calendar and sends me an email on Thurs. and
asks are we going to have Friday night pizza!! lol lol He gets his pizza about
every 3 weeks because of my diet. He told me he would love to have pizza
every Friday night.

WoW this is great having respones like this and for my first time! Yeeeeah! I will try the suggestions, I am one that likes to make from scratch, will try to make dough on Friday nights so we can have on weekends. I love King Arthur and I believe this one so far has won the hearts in my family, living in a old house baking keeps the first floor warm! LOL Thanks everyone! Always up for more suggestions!

Celeste great group of ladies here & welcome! I live in an old house too and baking does help warm the place too!

My house was built in the 1940's & they mostly just used a fireplace for warmth! How old is yours? Even with the flaws of an old house I think that they hold a certain charm, don't you?

I think the "secret" of a good pizza dough is to give the dough time to develop a good flavor. My husband's family used to have a pizza place and my husband was the one that made the dough. He would make the dough the day before for the next day and allow it to slow rise in the cooler over night.
Sweet rolls like sticky buns and cinnamon rolls taste much better when allowed to rise overnight. Makes it easy too, make them and put in the pan you are baking them in, cover loosely and refrigerate. Remove from the refrigerator in the morning, uncover, preheat the oven and bake.

Not sure how old the house is, I am in a historic district (however they don't manage well allowing slum lords in area) I do love older homes and they do have a certain charm, but lots of work LOL

I think you are right about that over night rising and I will try will cinnamon rolls as well, my daughter was just telling me that she would like them sometime this week. :)

We had pizza the other night from one of our independent shops in the area.They have a special 3 topping large pizza for $8.99 great deal and great pizza.
