Nancy, Gale, and Susan...thank you! I thot I had mentioned on a post about our newest indoor kitty, Panther....but that might have been one of my posts that didn't go thru as my computer kept freezing up on me. I had tried to post pictures of both Tinker and Panther the other day. I'll try again another time. So anyway, yes, Panther was one of our strays we'd had doctored, shots, and all, but he was outside. Then he bacame our indoor kitty a month or so after Tinker died. Totally different....Tinker was quiet...Panther is not! Even the meow's.....could barely hear Tinker, but Panther has a really loud meow!

Oh, MaryLou, your animals are just beautiful!!! That black cat looks almost like my Panther!!

Five years ago, my husband got a Chihuahua. She "tells me" when SHE is ready to eat, needs  water or wants to take a nap & needs her blanket put on her. When she is ready to sleep for the night, she gets me to wash her face & give her a breath buster biscuit AND I have to give the bird a bed time snack (the dog will not eat her biscuit till I have closed the bird cage). The rest of the day she is hubby's shadow.

gale .... dear, dear Badcat, and his siter Peaches, had fleas and ear mites VERY bad when when I took them home from the humane society.  His ear mites were so bad they did some neuro damage in the right side of his face.   His right eye and the right side of his mouth are twisted but he's still the most beautiful and wonderful cat on this planet.

Gale G.

We heard the average life span is 65, older son has been informed that he will be responsible for the bird if she is still around.
Does your friend's parrot still talk as much as it did when younger? Ours stopped saying centain things, but she still tells me thanks when I feed her, change the papers etc.

Hi Fran,Joe Joe belonged to my friends husband,he passed away over thirty years ago.My friend is in her nineties and she has never been able to handle Joe Joe,her son has to come over to clean his cage. Her son is in his seventies,so It looks like her grandson may inherit Joe Joe.He had stopped saying somethings when her husband died.My friend and I will be having a conversation and she will laugh and that bird will imitate her laugh, it's so sweet. He also imitates a phone conversation but it is low, just likes he hears it.I will ask her the next time we talk to see if his talking has slowed down due to his age and I will let you know.

This is a post I really had to chime in with.  Growing up I had a dog, hampsters, mice, turtles, frogs and fish.  So of course as an adult (and an animal science major) I've had a series of different pets.  I had a West Highland White terror (Diamond) for many years, such a lovable, smart and quite dog - I'd love to have another some day.  We had a Springer Spaniel (Gypsy) at the same time who wasn't as smart, but was wonderful with kids and one many field trials when she was young.  I also rescued a barn cat (Sapphire) who was half persian- she was 21 before she died a year ago!  For fisht, I have 2 sliver sharks, a pleco, a cory cat (I like bigger fish Cool), and have 4 rats left (Envy, Christina, Allie and Culvan).  We have had snakes, geckos, an iguana, and other rats.
My middle daugter (in college, but living at home) just suddenly lost her Bearded Dragon (Rubi), so we're looking into adopting a pair of ferrets in the next few months.
I can't imagine NOT having pets in my life.  We're planning on retiring in Alaska (6ish years), so are waiting to get dogs till after the move.
Nice to hear everyone's stories!

Let me tell you, Gale, Panther is a character allright! I think sometimes we should have named him Trouble!! I think I've finally broken him from getting onto the dining room table. I went out one morning and here he laid on the end of it just relaxing like he belonged there! That's a definite no-no in our house! Tinker never bothered the table unless there happened to be fresh-cut flowers on it. For some reason, he always loved flowers and occasionally I would catch him up on the table sniffing the flowers! But he knew he wasn't supposed to be there so he would jump down everytime he saw anyone coming! I tried once to get his picture sniffing them but he saw me and down he went! Whereas Panther just lay there when he saw me...no fear whatsoever. Cats are worse than kids!!
