I know that a lot of the VBB members gave up because points aren't counted, but I love seeing what all of you are doing and thinking. I sometimes miss a day or two, especiall when the internet goes nuts. Have a great day all. Keep communicating.

I love to hear what everyone is doing also and I love all the new recipes you
all put on this site. I made the Chocolate Chip Pie that was a VBB recipe for a church
pie sale and it went over very well.. It is our minster's wife favorite and she had not
had any since they moved here a year ago. Paster Joel asked if I would make
one for her Birthday which is coming soon.I don't really pay any mine to the points.

I do not pay attention to the points either. I am finding I do not stay as long as I have in the past as I have noticed less recipe sharing than in the past. I guess that may be partly my fault as I can easily post a recipe as anyone else.
So I guess I will have to ponder some topics and come up with some recipes.

Same with me, Nikki. I think I would share more often if my recipes could be saved in my VBB recipe collection. For over a year I've had trouble with that portion of the site, and I've given up on them finding a fix. It's a duplication of work to share in the Forums and then to reenter in the recipe collection. But I do so love all the recipes that do get shared here.

I don't pay attention to the points either. Gave up on that a long time ago.
I have really been busy with my TOPS group since I became the co-leader
in April. It is a lot of work but I really enjoy all the ladies. It is also helping
me to keep on losing weight. We have also been camping a lot, thank
goodness for ac in the motorhome. It has really been hot and humid here
for the last 2 weeks. I also have a bumper crop of tomatoes this year. The
weather has been awesome for tomatoes. I am also preparing for my trip
home to MI in Sept. I have 2 sisters and my youngest son who still live there.
I will be there for 16 days and will not stay home 1 day. There are so many
things that I want to do and people to see. Planing on having a lot of fun.
Will try to stay in touch. I sure do miss VBB and all the nice ladies on this
site. I did notice that there is not as much of recipe sharing as there used
to be. I will try to make more time to contribute to this site.

Here's a quick recipe for a cake made in a cast iron skillet:

               Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

1 pkg cake mix, white or yellow
1/2 cup butter                                                               1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1-20 ounce can sliced pineapple, drained                        10 maraschino cherries, drained

Make cake mix according to directions, using pineapple juice in place of water. Set aside.

Melt butter in cast iron skillet. Remove from heat and add brown sugar evenly. Arrange pineapple rings with cherries in the centers. Pour cake batter over pineapple and bake as directed on cake mix. Cool 10 minutes before turning out on a plate.

I haven't made this yet due to the hot weather but will soon since I love anything pineapple.

Thanks for posting this recipe H.M. I make this in my cast iron skillet all the time (10" pan) .I have to make it when the guys are home I don't have the strength to flip it out of the pan lol !! It is an excellent cake.

One of my favorite cakes is a Pineapple Upside Down cake. I love them when the pineapple and brown sugar get really caramelized.
The last one I had was made with pineapple chunks, the cake was very easy to cut through and every bite had quite a bit of pineapple. I think it had even more pineapple than when the rings are used. It was not quite so pretty but very tasty. I figured the next time I made on I would try it with the chunks as well.

Wow, Carol, you are one busy lady! I know how much time gets spent when one is leading/co-leading a volunteer group as I've done that many times. Have a great time in MI! I hear from my Iowa family that the temperatures are low and weather decent right now, so you should enjoy your day trips!! We'll miss you and will welcome your return.

H.M., I, too, use my skillet to make pineapple upside down cake. It is one of my favorites and so easy to do. It looks great when it is turned out onto a plate.

Verlee, I think also that the fact that we can no longer post recipes to our box with ease is a deterrent. I don't feel at all the same as I once did about this site. I will say, however, that I value each of you who add your recipes and give me new ones to try. I have learned so much from you folks over the past six-seven years that I have been following this site.

I have had no problem adding a recipe to my recipe box. Either putting it in myself or clicking on "add to recipe box" here on this site. I will admit I have not tried to add one in a while I just posted a recipe yesterday I will try to add it to my recipe box today. I guess I will find out if I have problems.
