Nikki -- did I read correctly that your husband just broke his hip?   I hope I mis-read that.  If not I hope all goes well.

Nikki:  So sorry to hear about your husband's fall.  Both of you are in my prayers.  I see that it says for your recovery, too.  Have not caught up with what happened to you, but praying for both of you.  Hope both of you are doing better.

Nikki, I've been praying for you and your situation.  With all that is going on, please take care of yourself, as well.

I should give you all an update....
He is doing very well.
I have a meeting today with the various "teams" that have worked with him and planning his discharge for March 1.
I have been working with the wonderful Physical Therapists when they have him and I think with their dedication and my encouragement he has done very well.  He is, according to them, functioning at the same level he was prior to his fall.  (my only argument about that is the toileting but that is another story).  I have been asking the aides when they help him dress to put "real" underwear on him first then the "diaper" I realize it may be more work for them but he needs to feel when he is wet.  I have also asked that he be placed on the toilet right after breakfast but I am usually the one to do that then help him. But he is getting better. I think once he gets home he will get back into his routine.  Then I will get him back to day care between the physical therapy.
I am ready for him to come home.  His daughter thinks it might be too much for me.  I figure I have to try, if it does become overwhelming at least I know I have tried. That is all I can ask of myself or of him.  My goal is to make sure he is comfortable and taken care of.

Nikki, I hope that you both are doing fine and remember to take care of yourself also. When I worked in physical therapy I saw many cases like this. The therapy really helps.

We both are doing well thanks to the PT.  I have been told today that he will have PT come to the house 2 or 3 days a week so that will help as well.
I have several more PT visits myself but my Dr told me Monday that he is thrilled with my progress and if I do not progress any further I will have surpassed what he expected.

Great to hear the good news Nikki.  Your husband will probably do really well in familiar surroundings and the "at-home" PT will give you a break as well.  It's wonderful that your PT is also going well since you will need to be "on your toes" lol.
