Nikki -- did I read correctly that your husband just broke his hip?   I hope I mis-read that.  If not I hope all goes well.

Update....
He came out of surgery well. 
He did recognize me when he saw me.
Physical therapy will come in and see him tomorrow morning so I will try to get there before they see him.
He keeps telling me he wants to come home. 
I take that as a good sign.  I told him he has to get better first.
Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers.

That's great news Nikki!  It is a good sign that he wants to come home but physical therapy will help him a lot in adjusting.  Praying for his speedy recovery, and yours.

glad to hear that everything went well  and it is good that they were able to schedule him so fast , because it's better for all of you            the pain is quite bad in that break and i'm sure he didn't understand why    but the surgery makes it much better   and the p.t. will make it even better
with my sister, we had a very hard time keeping her down when there was no one to help her around
even in a nursing home
praying for you and the strength you need

First round of rehab did not go well.
Due to the Alzheimer's he is not very cooperative. 
Rehab is scheduled for tomorrow and we will see if day 2 goes any better.

Most likely he will be transferred to a rehab/ nursing home later today.
Good thing is it will be closer to home.
Bad news is this really does not look good. 
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I trust He knows what He is doing.

so sorry to hear that nikki,
but it is usually not good for most people in the beginning  the p.t. and nursing home and all    and for him it has to be worse  because he doesn't always remember why      he's there  or why he has to do it

with my sis that was not the problem, she is a very beligerant person (caused by her condition) and felt she knew more than they and resisted a lot of help   had to be forced on her

just make sure that all the people helping him are aware of and understanding of his condition  you can ask for a different person if you need to    it can make a difference

and gird your loins      for a battle    and take care of yourself           because it's not going to be easy for anyone

Nikki, I'm sorry to hear about your situation.  I've been away for the past week and just got onto the site today for the first.  Praying for you and your husband and trusting God's plan will work out in His own way and that He will strengthen you for the added responsibilities you are going through now, strength for the extra running around and healing for your foot.

I have never been asked to "gird my loins" before...sounds like something from 50 Shades.....

Serious now.....You are right.  I am partially prepared for this.  I plan on being at the rehab sessions and making sure he and they do what needs to be done.
I know this is just a few days post surgery and he is in pain but I also know that he needs to start walking or he just may forget how.  Wow that is shocking to put in writing but it just might be true.

Thank you all again for the shoulder to cry on...I gotta tell you the keyboard is kinda wet right now.

I was kidding about 50 shades.  You are probably correct in origin and I have heard the term. And that is what I will have to do.

Nikki I worked on an Alzheimer's unit many moons ago.I kind of know what you are going through to a small degree.I will continue to pray for your husband.I pray that you will have the strength to endure all the things that may come your way.Take Care and God Bless you both
