Do they not have the newsletter anymore?  I must admit that I do NOT visit this site as much as I used to.  I just do not care for the new website at all.  I used to LOVE coming on this

I have not received a newsletter in months.  I can't even find where to sign up again on the webiste; hence, yet another example of why I don't like it.

Go to My VBB on the top right of your screen (or just go here http://www.verybestbaking.com/Profile.aspx ) and select "Edit Subscriptions" on the left-hand side.  Make sure "Yes" is checked to receive the newsletter.

Thank you. I had to update b/c for some reason it was not checked to receive it.  I should be ok now.

Hey Lisa,
They keep working on the site but there is a long way to go before it  is anywhere near the old one if at all. You would have thought they would have it working and at least near finished before switching over. No swapped recipes yet either.

I'm still waiting for the swapped recipes, too, John. Was hoping they would be here way before Thanksgiving!
Any idea, VBB, when you will have them up and running?

Carol:

We are disappointed to report that Swapped Recipes just are not transferring to the site in the timeframe we'd like to deliver for our VBBers.  It will now be early December when Swapped Recipes are fully integrated into the site.  We realize this will make planning for the holidays difficult for our VBBers; can you share any particular recipes you're looking for?

Can  you give us a link to the old sites swapped recipe section or has it already been deleted?

I need a cake recipe that had lemon curd pockets and a cheesecake recipe from Sharon.

Can I just ask WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO AND CHANGE THE WEBISTE AT ALL?  Like they say, "if it ain't broken, why fix it?"  I still don't get it.  I loved it way better the old way!  I miss the changing recipes on the front page.  I used to look forward to them changing every month.  I miss it all!

Lisa:

We took several surveys earlier this year (and there is still a pop up survey on the site) and learned that VBBers were ready for a change.  Please check out the "Recipes" section with even more recipes to browse through than before.  We hope you'll like that we have more changing recipes than ever!

hee hee hee - Lara - lots of us try desperately hard to get those brownie points and we don't know why.  Isn't that amazing?
VBB tells us that we will soon know and be rewarded for getting them .... or the person who has the most will ..... something.
I hope the people who rank the the 400th most points will win.

Which Sharon Cam? Am waiting for swapped recipes too. Loved going through and seeing what recipes were there and getting the ones I liked the most to make. I do have a mean cheesecake recipe.

Funny, I don't remember any surveys earlier this year.  I most certainly would have been glad to give my opinion before these changes were made.   It appears none of the people posting here asked for these massive changes.  So, VBB, just who did you ask?

It was from a VBBer with the user name of Sharon. Her avatar was a lady with a scarf/dew rag around her head. She fashioned the recipe herself and it was very good.

To the one who posted just under Sharon T, I would love to know about the survey also. And, I would like to know where one is on the site now.

To VBB Admin., you asked which recipes I was looking for and I stated which ones. Yet, I didn't receive an answer or even an acknowledgement.

Cam: is this the lemon curd cake you're looking for?

cheese cake with lemon curd

Very Best Baker: jo o.
Rated: no rating

once again my brother, the baker, came through with a cake that i have made several times and everyone loves it so much i don't have left overs

Ingredients
  • CAKE:
  • 5 lg pkg cream cheese softened
  • 1 3/4c sugar
  • 1t fresh orange zest
  • 1 1/2t fresh lemon zest

  • 1/4t salt
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 yolks

conversion calculator
Directions

  • 1- mix all cake ingredients in sturdy mixer
  • 2-pour small portions into blender (on high)at a time
  • 3-pour into cake pan
  • 4-do not grease pan
  • 5-pre heat oven 350
  • 6-use 9" springform pan
  • 7- cook approx. 1 hour
  • 8-cool 1/2 hr and place in refigerator
  • (blender is needed otherwise the cake is too lumpy)
  • CURD:
  • 1-place all ingredients in double boiler

  • 3-cool and then refigerate covered w/ plastic wrap
  • i usually serve the curd on the side as some prefer fruit instead (pineapples, berries, strawberries)

Cam:

We are seeing several Cheesecake recipes from "Sharon"; was this a flavored cheesecake (pumpkin, chocolate, etc.) or a more traditional one?
