I'm in the market for a new living room set.Anyone out there have any suggestions for a couch,love seat and chair.What fabric should I look at with the dogs? They are a part of my family and they are

New Living Room Furniture?

I'm in the market for a new living room set.Anyone out there have any suggestions for a couch,love seat and chair.What fabric should I look at with the dogs? They are a part of my family and they are allowed on the furniture.Is leather a good choice? Any suggestions would be greatly  appreciated.I'm leaning towards leather??? My coffee table and end tables were my parents.They are made of solid British oak,they have to be seventy years old and in great shape.I need two matress and box spring sets.What is a good brand?Thanks

I have a sofa and two chairs that are in micro fiber. The sofa I have had for at least 10 years and when the cushions get soiled I will take them off, remove any padding and toss them in the washer.  They come out great.
The two chairs I don't use a lot the cats sit on them and I just use the vacuum on them and the cat hair comes right up.
I have spot cleaned them and again they look great.
The bed I have, and use is a Select Comfort and I would not trade it for anything.  I did replace an old mattress with one of the foam ones and I did sleep on it for a while and I can't stand it. After a short time I feel like I am sleeping in a hole. My Grandson though does love it and it is now in the room he uses when he sleeps over.  I will get a regular mattress when I have to replace the other one in the spare room. Or I may get another Select Comfort and put the old one in the spare room and treat myself to a newer model.
I am not fond of leather, it may tear and in the summer it gets hot and sticky you have to peel yourself off leather.

If you really like the furniture you have and it is just showing it's age you may want to think about reupholstering the items you have.  The chairs I have are ones my husbands mother had and she had them rehupholstered so they must be at least 80 years old and still comfortable.  I could not have purchased them for what I paid to have them re done.

 Gale, one word. STURDY! Strong materials. As for a bed I don't know. I sleep in a recliner for my back. I know people that like their Sleep By Number beds.

The Select Comfort is the Sleep Number bed. I love it!
They now have foam mattress versions but as I said I don't like them.

Hi Nikki thanks for the suggestions and Vikki I also have been sleeping in my recliner for the past 8 years due to circulatory problems in my legs.I would like to try sleeping in a bed however.I do OK whenever I'm in the hospital but I will keep a recliner in my room for bad nights.My son said he would like to look at the sleep number beds so maybe we'll both get one.Thanks

I have leather sofa and love seat and really enjoy them. But we don't have any pets any longer, so I can't advise on how they would do with leather. And we have had our Sleep By Number bed for about 8 years and love it. I'm #45 and hubby is #35 - that's our bed numbers, not our ages. LOL

The Sleep Number beds now do have bases that can adjust the bed so the head come up, the foot portion comes up just like a hospital bed is articulated. If you have a King size bed they sell "split King" so only one side will move if you wanted to adjust it for yourself.  I can only imagine getting sheets would be a nightmare as I think that would be twin extra long (I would have to check size). 
I can't imagine that having a traditional king bed with a base that moves and 2 people in the bed on being forced to sleep in a position that would not be comfortable because the other wanted the head elevated or the knee raised.

my son has leather in the l.r. and den     and they always ask why i never come to watch tv
like nikki says, hot uncomfortable and too big for me   i slide out
there is no place i can get comfortable
the cats and dogs can cause damage w/ their nails  or teeth, but you know your animals but if you happen to get a new one (kitten/puppy) it would be hard to train them
i've always had cloth or micro-fiber  and never a solid color  so stains can be less noticeable

as for my bed      i've had it a very long time  and i still like it
when i visit my sister  they have those expensive beds even the guest room  and i have to be very careful when i'm there     the first time i tried one   i lay down in the center and could not move    trapped   they had to come and pull me up              they have the  tempur-pedic   full motion adjustable

I have a microfiber sofa and loveseat and I really like them.  The hold up nice and clean up nice, but I don't have dogs, only a cat.

Can't advise on the bed though.

Hi Nikki,I'll just get a queen plenty of room for me and the two pups.I'm not too sure about the one where the head and feet adjust.The more bells and whistles the more that can go wrong with it and that equals more $ to fix.I learned my lesson on my stove it still is not right.I'm excited to go shopping for the furniture.They sell wedges to put inbetween the mattress and box spring to elelvated the head of the bed,that might be a better option for me.The sheets would be a fortune just for a regular king size bed.

Thanks Nellie that is a very good idea.Then it can be used only when necessary.I don't always have problems.There's no rhyme or reason to it just whenever it decides to bother me
