GRANA here, I found  out TODAY that next year or in 2015, Law will require That all light bulbs must be energy efffecient & free of hazzardouschemicals ie: those cute twisty bulbs we just switched toYell  Most florecnts will no longer have ballasts only T8 florescents will be sold and LED will be preferred. We might not be able to replace our old bulbs !Surprised
i suggest stocking up or changing out your fixtures before there is a rush to do it.I don't know if this is all over the countryUndecided or only in New Hampshire, so check it out in your area.... Do what you feel is best for you

GRANA here;
 As our old fixtures need replacing we are getting  the newly approved type..They are longer lasing and cost less to run
I'm not sure re I believe it anyway; too many people wll be inconvenienced  &  many cannot afford such a  argeexpense in this economy
But our electric bill  is lower & eye strain less using these bubs so we'll change out what needs to be replaced gradually
Cool

 Ann i really like the dimmer old bulbs over the brighter white light! The starkness of the bright light reminds me of hospitals & doctor offices! Guess there's no choice but to buy the bright ones. I just threw away my last regular one yesterday.

I have been replacing bulbs with LED's for a while now.  Much nicer light.  A bit more expensive but they are supposed to last a lot longer.
I also have compact fluorescent bulbs but eventually they will get replaced by LED.
Halogen are nice but they are hot.  I want to put lights under cabinets and those will be LED bulbs.  Halogen under cabinet lights I have hear can cause a problem with how hot they are it is not good if you are storing food items, particularly chocolate and some canned goods. (I heard one "fix it show" call under cabinet halogen lights "plate warmers")

How the heck do those idiots have time to come up with laws about lightbulbs but can't come up with a budget?  I wish they would leave the little stuff alone and work on the REALLY important stuff!  There was such a rush to get everybody away from regular bulbs to the "efficient" ones, only to find out that the mercury was a problem.  Wonder what the next "problem" will be?
