In Response to Re: How Much Are Turkeys Going For in Your Area Stores??? : nancy i used to do that but they are never on sale here anymore i prefer the breast also but i can usually buy a whole 12 lb turkey for way less than half and you also get the giblets i've been cutting it in half between white and dark and stewing the dark parts for broth and freezing it in bags until my cleaning lady takes it off my hands to make soups, pot pies, etc. she's very happy for the dark meat because that's what her family prefers you could use this to make a large pot of soup for a church dinner, or for the firemen or share it with another family i know you are always cooking for others and if i can cut it in half with my hands i know you can too i just cut the skin between the thighs with scissors and then bend until the spine breaks and use a large knife to finish cutting thru the backbone

Hi Nellie just a thought I bought myself one of those small saws the one with the removeable blade and this is what I use for sawing through pork roasts, beef roast or pork roast anything with bones it works better than a knife.I was always good at cutting myself with the chicken breast bone. This saw is only used for food,The blade is removable and easy to wash and keep clean.
