Some rain fell earlier this week which caused the weeds to grow therefore they need mowing

My husband couldn't wait to get his ATV back since he hooks a mower to it to cut the grass at our summer home. He cut it three days ago and even with the neighbors sheep grazing every day, we need to cut it again.

Even with all the dry weather we had, seems the lawn needs mowing every week at least.  The front lawn doesn't look too bad but the back lawn has more brown spots than green.  Oh well, water is too expensive here to even think about watering the grass.   Besides I would rather water the veggies so we don't lose anymore of them to the excessive heat.

my son was mowing my grass yesterday morning     when he was attacked by a swarm of small red wasps or hornets that apparently have a nest underground          he was stung so many times  he had to jump from his new mower and leave it running       he must have had 50-100 stings    we put some 9 percent vinegar on them and got out all the stingers we could find and he took one of my clarinex and seemed to be okay          he mowed my backyard with the old mower    but it then got more stings while finally moving the other mower away              so far he hasn't been abloe to find the nest         because the bees are still too agitated

Fortunately for my husband, the paper wasp nest though underneath the deck was visible so that he didn't hit it and get stung.

not much bigger than a fly        but swift and lethal with it's stinger

My husband is still mowing the lawn about twice a week.   He has it down to a system, so it doesn't take very long.

Due to the dry conditions and the fire danger, many people are having herds of goats come into their areas.  The park district has been using them a lot on the mountainous areas.  It really keeps the growth of weeds and other natural grasses down.  Often we look up on the foothills and see the goats grazing away.

Early AM the weeds are wet. In the afternoon it rains again. I will mow whenever it is safe and will not have to worry about the law mower slipping and sliding on wet damp grass.

I decided to chop the weeds early Thursday morning. I thought they had dried out. I ran out of gas so I took a walk and solved the problem. I quickly learned how wet  the weeds really were. Wet weeds choke a lawn mower. I got tied of restarting the lawn mower and quit trying.
