Christmas dinner left overs will make a couple more meals.  The tenderloin roast I did was so tender I could cut it with a fork.

well--------my cleaning lady came by and picked up the leftovers to feed her always hungry 16 yr old son------------she took most of chicken salad---all the open pkgs of cheeses and meats---sandwich buns----croissants------the cheese ball ----cheese dip--little weinies----an extra loaf of bread -----and a pecan pie

i love having her in my life   --------------because now i don't have to throw away my leftovers after a few days of trying to eat everything myself--------i hate waste-------especially good food---although it has taken awhile to convince her that i really would rather have her take the surplus food i end up with like milk and bread a little before exp dates than throw it away----------------we have reached a happy agreement now

now i must get dressed and face the crazy return day traffic and crowds to buy a new kitchen faucet---------
although i can cut thru a neighbor hood street to get from one major 6 lane to another major four lane and go behind the grocery store to get to lowes easily and miss the real bottleneck

okay it took less than an hour round-trip going that way --------the shopping took less time than i had imagined----------all the faucets were too high for5 my vision and when the lady asked me what i wanted-------------i said no uni-levers-----------no high riser----------that huge home improvement center only had two faucets that had lever handles and a spray atttchment that didn't pull out of the head------------with around 100 to choose from--------that was it

Christmas Eve we always do the fish.  Italians do the 7 Fish on Christmas Eve.  We used to do 7 plus, but now we have done less as we get older and have health issues.  In fact, this year for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day my two sons did the cooking at our house and did all the cleaning up and putting away the left overs.  We had shrimp cocktail, linguine and clam sauce, cod with garlic and olive oil,  salad, cold broccoli with olive oil, italian bread.  We had three kinds of cookies that my youngest son made.  I think I covered everything.

For Christmas Day we had cavatelli with sauce, roast beef, potatoes, gravy, broccoli, green beans with breadcrumbs, salad.  This was followed by fruit, nuts and cheese.  After we digested a little we had dessert, three kinds of cookies that my youngest son made and a cake and, of course, coffee.

Forgot we had Italian bread both days.

It was nice being with family.  My husband and I and our two sons, and my two brothers.  My sons took food to their aunt who is paraplegic, her aide, and the elderly woman who lives upstairs.  They got both the Christmas Eve food and the Christmas Day food.

i've had 3 sisters who have had need of nursing homes or assisted living and one in hospice care in the last few years -----------------2 were temporary for broken bones -------and 130 miles miles away--------------but i tried to go at least once a week  and take a treat for them and the nurses/aids------------and whatever patients that were allowed to have it------once i even carried chicken salad for the whole staff-----all shifts and they really appreciated it--------------
