In Response to Re: Memorial Day..:
Why do our young people feel so much despair that they feel the only answer is to commit suicide? I will pray for this young girl and her family. What a tragedy.  Here is a prayer that I find comforting: Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy Itself. Amen.

Yesterday morning in church we started the service by standing up, turning to the American flag and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.  And we sang partiotic songs one after another.

Great poem - let us remember all of those men and women in the military of our country (past and present) that make our freedom possible, so we have a holiday to celebrate.  Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Maxine, thanks for the historical review - we lucky folks of all ages need to keep our military  in our thoughts and prayers for they have made our freedom possible so we can have such a holiday .
