This is from an email a friend send to me ...........

Subject: The Silence; Original TAPS

I  have heard TAPS, and I can never get through it without the odd tear.

This is absolutely beautiful.

I recommend it to all, but especially to Veterans as well as music people.

To the Veterans - God bless you all and God bless all who fell and never made it home.

TAPS, LIKE YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE.

UNBELIEVABLY BRILLIANT

The  conductor of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Holland .

The  young lady, her trumpet and her rendition of TAPS makes your hair stand on end.

Many of you may never have heard taps played in its entirety, for all of the men and women that have died  for you to have the freedom you have in Australia . This is an opportunity you won't want to miss and I guarantee you'll never forget.

Amazingly beautiful ...

Melissa Venema, age 13, is the trumpet soloist. She is also from Holland .

Here is Taps played in its entirety. The original version of Taps was called Last Post, and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801. It was rather lengthy and formal, as you will hear in this clip, so in 1862 it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named Taps.

Melissa Venema is playing it on a trumpet whereby the original was played on a bugle.

Watch at this site.

Much at church this morning will be aimed at our military heroes.  Service will start with the Pledge of Allegiance and then every veteran -or widow or child - will be given a chance to stand and talk about their efforts for our country.
All year, every year, every child in church school is taught the Pledge of Allegiance - the words and what they mean.

Thanks, Nancy. I've heard this before but it's so appropriate and touching to hear it again at this time.

Nancy, thanks.  I do not think I have ever heard the full version before.
I also cry when hearing Taps as well as Amazing Grace.  There are a few others that get me as well...two that come to mind are Vince Gill Go Rest High on that Mountain and Garth Brooks The Dance.

This morning in church the pastor had a great series of military slides while a young woman sang Amazing Grace.  There weren't many dry eyes.

Thank you to all who serve in the military and all who have served. My dad served in
World War II.  I have heard so many stories and  have all of his medals.

We, too, will be remembering those who have gone to serve, those who did not return and the families of all of these, since they also sacrificed.  So many families changed for life because their loved one served and either didn't come back or came back a different person.  Huckabee stated that every day 22 vets take their own lives and they are mostly over 60 years of ago.  Such a sad statistic. I am grateful to those who have served, are serving and will serve in the future of our country.

i'm glad you mentioned that, bakery
it's a very sad statistic that does not speak well of our after-care of our vets
on the bright side of that, texas now has new laws concerning  ptsd and the courts, special for vets w/ lower or no punishment if they get help  sort of deferred judgement

also a new study being done at   rice university   here in Houston   into  ptsd      announced yesterday a finding they're studying (I don't really know exactly)   have found a gene or chemical present in the brain of some participants w/ ptsd (the problematic ones) and think a connection exists that may help treatment

i'll try to find a link if I can
