GRANA here;
It seems that pharmacies do not know how to deal w/ the PART D ( drugs) plan coverage.
Each NEW/ORIGINAL  &REFILL l  brings itrs own troubles( at most pharmacies)
Problems range from orders  not being ready after we recieve a call telling us that they are ready and walking over there  & then having to wait  another halfhour tiltheyactually are ready.They might be out of the item we need or they might be ou tof date/expired & useless !
 COPAY amounts ari often mis-configured & attemps  are made to overcharge Seniors on Medicare.These are some of the problems we have experienced:
The TARGET pharmacy tried o charge my husband over $200 for his RXHe insisted they refigure the amount & agreed to pay  the refigured amountof$15.50 ( CO-PAY) of
$15.50& was paid and  an expired & useless pkg wasgiven.He had to go back again. Hubby called his insurance company: there is no CO-PAY...The insurance ompany PAIDTHE IN FULL AMOUNT to  thepharmacy, , the next day.Hubby went back w /proof of over/extra payment, in hope of getting his refund.He was told hat the local store could not issue a pharmacy refund..Forms needed to go to National hdqtrs Two weeks later, I called National's CUSTOMER CARE LINE & was told the regional mgr was in charge of the case ;I requestedsted A name & contact #  &  it was not known or the date refund check was issued( "but I KNOW IT WAS!). I verified that forms were illed out & approved &  was told to 00wait patiently for another 2 weeks to recieve it...I called weekly & talked to CUSTOMER CARE MANAGERS & informed them of the impending small claims suit . I  requested a letter stating that the refund had been aproved & was on its way.This was over a month after the approval & no letter could be sent( no proceedure in place)
I was told that other ustomers are being more patient & understanding about the overcharge and having to wait for their refund.I  replied that sincethis was  a repeat & ongoing problem they should have a better proceedure in place  to make things right; that WALMAT issued refund w/o our even knowing about the overcharge.I was told that if we aren't happy w/ their serive,we could/should takeOur RX business elsewhere.We did that; CVS had no problem in charging the correct amt.( ZERO) but it took ane xtra1/2 hour after being called to pick up his RX & walking over there for His item to actually be ready. Wamart also got the price right, but They are a LONG DRIVE & too far to walk to) = EXTRA COST to use their harmacy&  the clerk did not remove the SECURITY TAG .......Hubby was stopped by SECURITY on his way out, treated Roughly &  embarassed.
He called the mailorder diabetes supply company ( AS SEEN ON TV) & immediately was assured the order was @ no CO-PAY OR OTHER charge & would arrivew/in ten days. We were offered the FREE diabetes RECIPE BOOK( as advertised)
we were told it would be shipped right out & would arrrive w/in 10 days.Hubby's dr gave him gave him a ten day supply to tide him over.The pkg arrived right on time [ 9 days] ; complete w/ FREE RECIPE BOOK, as advertised. we were both"in shock" at something actually being done correctly & "as advertised"Surprised
Service was pleasant & his HEARRING LOSS was dealt w/patiently
.I guess there is stll hope for Amercan business; at last one U.S.company is doing things right.!

i retired (after 29+ yrs) from a county government and we were provided with coverage and when i went on medicare-----------nothing (meds) changed-------

all of my maintainance meds have to ordered in 3 month increments (online now) from their pharmacy

if i get a script on a visit i can take it anywhere

and they still pay the same as before medicare, in either case

 Ann so sorry you and hubby had so much trouble,I hope they apologized for their rough handling of Hubby.We just had a mess.We can order for our drug supplier instead of the neighborhood drug store at a savings for ordering 3 months at a time..We were told when it was being shipped and we were waiting,no shipment.Hubby called them and was told they haven't been able to contact our Dr.so they cancelled the shipment and told my husband that they had notified him,which is not true.So we are going back to the neighborhood pharmacy,we'll get our gas points and no stress or aggravation.The thing is these people are always calling trying to get us to buy our meds from them.I think they best not call anymore or Hubby will have a few choice words for them. lol

We don't take any RX medications, but I still hate having to deal with insurance companies.  They never seem to get the billing on anything correct and it takes forever to get things adjusted.  There is just too much "red tape".  Of course, the worst part is that the insurance companies and the doctors, etc. don't talk to each other and I am always in the middle relaying information back and forth.  I mean how am I supposed to know how the paperwork should be coded in the first place?

lol lol -- Debbie, last year I received a letter from the insurance co ( can't remember if it was Tricare or Medicare) refusing to pay the doctor because he had submitted the bill for services 6 months too late (6 months late !!!??).  I didn't pay the doctor either.

Unfortunately, Part D Medicare has a lot of problems not the least of which is that just about any insurance company can offer it.  Since I'm not eligible for Medicare yet I haven't had to deal with it for myself.  My Mom has Medicare supplement and prescription drug coverage through her former employer.  Everytime she gets mail about the Part D plans it's usually from several different companies.  The sticking point is that if you drop the employer plan, you can never get it back again.

I have found that every pharmacy has their own version of what a co-pay should be.  Only been to Target once for a prescription and never went back.  I found our local grocery store has a lower co-pay price than what Target charged me for the same drugs.  Target may just be pricing themselves right out of the market if they keep it up.

GRANA  here;
Hi  GALE G;
No  they did not pologize & they blamed it on him( HE should have made sure the security tag was remove & HE should have stopped when they called out "HEY YOU"!
Hubby is nearly  deaf & even f he  had heard a sound( not his name) ; he would not  have guessed they were calling him in that tone of voice; he was a paying   customer,after all, finally done w/ his busines  after a 25 minute wait for pharmacy  sevice.Even when he xplained about is deafness, there was no apology they had to confirm w/ pharmacy clerk that he had paid( his sale slip was not adeqate.Even when it was realized the mistake/failurewas their clerks; no apology was given.these are minimum wage cerks;guardsin" " dead end jobs,not very  to smart or courteous & likely untrained
we had that same PRICE BREAK WHEN ORDERING MAIL ORDER  MEDS(   order  3 months worth; pay for 2 months (  get the third month at no extra  charge.They always robo called upon shipment; charges were always accurate & pkg arrived sooner than expected. They were always couurteous & helpful but when our COBRA  plan lapsed so did our access to that mail order service.One eMedicare insurer offers the same( avantage)  plan is not  available in our state (not enough doctors signed up for it
)" I do not have PART D myself  because when I came onto SS I only took 2 generic drugs, somrtimes 3 & it was not worth the(then)  $85 a month  for the p lan.Nowif I wan to joinPART D, l willbe penalyzed for all the ime   I was w/o it. over$1,000 was the estimate,not worth it since all my mrds s are now available in generics.Hubby has PART D & e goes into  the ' donut hole in 3 months( no coverage till out of pocket costs are several thousand$$$$$$$$$$$.
Our state allowsCanadian drugs & he gets his at less than 1/2price for the) American ) brand name drugs,even less for generics.He pays for PART D just in cae he is put on a new med w/o time to wait for Canadian drugs to gtet the new RX& ship t to him.
American drug cmpanies  & Pharmacies are so greedy that Canada can ship them  back to us for so much less than our own drug companies will.They are always accurate & on time.  They  have TOLL FREE phone #;INTERNET SERVICE & Englishspeaking clerks  to handle each call....
When one shipment wass delayed ( a few days); they sent a replacement  out  by FASTER MAIL@ NO EXTRA CHARGET to us..When the original shipment  finallly arived, hubby notified them & they thanked him( something US  companies have failed to do)!FrownI  have joined the"Savings Clubs  @2 pharmacies.One Cost $15 yr the other $30 yr.One of my meds $54( 30 days)   each time w/o the membeship & $11.99 ( 90 days)  w/it ..It ( the savings plan is notavailable if you have any drug insurance, so it  is a  better bottom line value for me than Medicare.They also have   a   wait for service as long as 30 minutes.The pharmay clerk rings up  candy bars @ RX  registers & pharmacy  customers have to wait for  those sales to be done before they are taken care of.  There should be a sign " this register is for pharmacy purchases ONLY& it should be enforced!Yell

Hi Ann,you should call and complain to someone higher up(Main Office) not at the store level.That is a no no acusing someone of a crime they did not commit.I think it would be nice if you would have been offered a gift certificate for his trouble.There is no excuse for anyone to lay hands on someone.It's not your hubby's job to make sure the clerks do their jobs,especially when he doesn't know.what their job is.

GALE; We/I got weekly calls fom one major Medicare supplemental plan, offring me membership.I requested plan info(coverage, & cost details.It never arrived.  Each folow up sales person was informed that I was still waiting for plan info.Thy confirmed my address again & again; 4 months later we got the info from another company( applied oline.we compared i it o a few others,  online as well.We chose to go w/ them, since their prices were about the same & their customer service was good enough to at least get getthe info out to me.Theother company never did get the info to me & continued calling for months after wards.Each NOVEMBER- DECEMBER,  they call again. I  tell them thatt"THEY BLEW IT"   that I went w/ another company & am pleased w/ their plan &  servce.I told hem to stop wasting  my time, their phon calls & postage beause I'm happy w/ our choice & would not sign up w/ them if  I were not.They stil call again each NOVEMBER-DECEMBER;    I go through the same speech each year!
 GIve NO or BAD SERVICE ; H
ARASS is not the way to o get/keep cstomers.
Our failing economy should come as no surprise w/ suh poor cstomer servce, its no wonder overseas customers avoid buying our products, these days.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well ann i guess you jinxed me asking about this--------and myself about being pleased with my on-line pharmacy

on the 14th i went on-line and placed a re-order of the 4 meds shown to be available for refills   also on the 14th i received an e-mail that my order had been processed and mailed----------i went back on-line to ck that all 4 meds had been refilled--------and they had----so i printed a copy--------on friday the charges quoted were processed at my credit union-------

imagine my surprise yesterday (sunday) when i had an -----'urgent'------e-mail from this pharmacy about my recent order telling me that since my prescription had expired on ---------03/20/12--------they were not able to complete and mail my order-     and that if i needed that drug i should either go back on-line to have them contact my dr for permission or go to my dr for a new prescription----it did not state which of the 4 rx expired---------but 2 of them      will expire     on that date-------------------i went back on-line and could still find only the info that all 4 were mailed----------------so i then called the phone number for orereing by phone-------------and was assured that all 4 were mailed on the 14th-----and sometimes computers make mistakes

i have a p o box for my mail and my g.s. had gone by about 3:30 fri and the pkg was not there---------and even tho it is a holiday i stopped by the po on my way home earlier today-----------and guess what-------they were there and all 4 were in the pkg

HiGALE G;
By law& ( most store's)  policy the store can at their own discretion/volition  stop anybody they think might be guilty of anythng (private property)So w/ the security tag still on n & his ignoring their calls to stop ; he became "fair game" for furthe; even physical attempts to stop him.an apology once it was cleared up is the minimum theyshould do. A gift ertificateyificate would be nice but hubby refuses to go back there,not even deal w/them ONLINE, so it's their loss.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.Yell
I tell all who will listen/read the story& Walmat's customer mis-handling will come  back to haunt & hopefuly hurt them when customers sympathetic &outraged over  the insensive way a deaf man was treated due o an employees  failure to do their job correctly;in oneof their stores,
The interestin thing istha  hubby hasoften taken his timeto have these seurity tags removd( when he hasnoticed them0, but e just didn't notice this time!
That's his only crimeWink

a crime they did not commit.I think it would be nice if you would have been offered a gift certificate for his trouble.There is no excuse for anyone to lay hands on someone.It's not your hubby's job to make sure the clerks do their jobs,especially when he doesn't know.what their job is.

My mother uses her American Legion Auxiliary card for her meds. That is a very good saving.
You need to belong to the Auxiliary to get this benefit. It is well worth it. There are other benefits also.
I belong to the Auxilary but do not take any meds. I am lucky I guess as I am 67 years old.

I don't have part D as such.  The retirement insurance I have includes drugs and I only take one.  I can get a 3 month supply through the mail from Express Scripts in St. Louis.   I guess all drug insurance is sort of part D.  I've not had any problems but one must be sure to get the refills before the expiration date or the end of a year.  Since I don't take mine every day my 3 month supply lasts much longer.  I forget when the prescription was sent in sometimes.

Hi  NELLIE V;
 GRANA  here;
I'm so appy you got your RX troubles ixed.It's a shame we ( the customer) must do all the work ourselves....some times it only takes the good luck to get a clerk, willing to do the work their job requires.
