My Mom always taught us not to discuss religion or politics outside our home. That way there are no hard feelings. There are no winners in either subject because everyone always thinks their opinion is correct.I have to agree we shouldn't address this subject here.

Everyone has their own thoughts about this subject. I am tired of hearing about it from all sides.
Please keep this a baking  site.

I agree with you Angela.  Unfortunately I don't think the lying will ever stop(no matter who does it) since it seems that anything goes during an election campaign.

In deference to our VBB friends though it's probably better not to discuss it here.

What is the old saying..or is it a joke.
When can you tell a politician is lying?...When his lips are moving.

I try not to pay attention to the ads most are mud slinging.
And as others have said you don't discuss politics with...anyone that I can think of.  Most of the email that I get from friends and family that are political in nature I just delete without reading.  I figure everyone is entitled to their opinion but they are not entitled to push their opinion on me.  Discussions are fine but so often discussions escalate.

Isn't it wonderful though that we live in a country where we can have the freedom to choose.  And isn't it a shame that not everyone takes advantage of that freedom?

I'm sick of the whole thing too, but I learned as a little girl that if the silent majority doesn't speak up, we lose our rights to the most verbal. We no longer have prayer in our schools, even silent prayer, churches and synagogues cannot display religious scenes anywhere. Happy Holidays has taken the place of Merry Christmas, Happy Channuka, etc. Sorry to offend anyone and yes this is a baking site, but this is also around the water cooler and we women (mostly women VBB's) wouldn't have the right to vote if some women didn't become verbal and fight for the right to vote.

You are very right Angela. They have taken prayer out of public places but that still shouldn't stop us praying anytime we want to.Last year I went to Amish country with my son, dil and their church. We openly prayed at our dining table and I was very happy to join in.That is what is great about our country we can do this.My God and everyone else's God is always with us no matter where we go.My extended family is multi cultural. So many are so different, yet I love them all.We need not agree with each other but respect each others opinions.I don't agree with all my political parties views.I don't even know if they are being honest with their views but it seems they all try to cater to a group that will ensure them greater number of votes whether they agree with the issues or not.You did not offend me at all I just think this might cause hard feelings amongst us.That is all I was thinking. A big hug ((((( Angela ))))) I have a friend who is on the opposite end of the spectrum as far as her religious and political views and I make it a point just to nod my head in agreement and smile so I don't offend her.I love her dearly and enjoy her company and would never do anything to jeopardize that.

I totally agree that all this politics should not be part of this web site.  I would like to offer a bit of knowledge for any of you who doubt something a candidate says.  Go to Factcheck.org, and you will find a neutral site that analyzes all the information and gives an honest assessment of the statement.  Don't forget to vote!!!

Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing. AMERICA. Stop listening. Do Not Read. Walk Away. Voting is a private pleasure for many. AMERICA.

I hate mud slinging and posting dirty things about a candidate.  Let's stick to the ideas for improvement.

VBB friends,
Thanks for you input. It is hard to keep politics out of even a baking site since it affects our everyday lives as well as what we can buy to bake. Prices are going off the walls and retirees will not be able to enjoy even a small amount of sweets since they will need all they have to buy food to eat and pay for their medications.
