I JUST LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC.MY DAD USE TO SING "O HOLY NIGHT" AT THE MIDNIGHT MASS WHEN I WAS A KID.WE USE TO SING CAROLS ALL THE TIME, ALL SEVEN KIDS, MOM AND DADIN THE CAR ALL THE TIME. THE MUSIC IS SUCH A BIG PART OF CHRISTMAS FOR ME.MY DAD DIED 2008, DAY AFTER EASTER.I HAVE A CD MY FAMILY MADE OF HIM SINGING. THE MAN WAS BLESSED WITH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE.HE LOVED TO SING SONGA ALL THE TIME. I MEAN ALL THE TIME.
ON THE WAY HOME TONIGHT I FOUND A RADIO STATION PLAYING CHRISTMAS MUSIC/"OH HOLY NIGHT". YOU GUESSED IT I SANG ALONG TO EVERY SONG.I COULD NOT HELP MYSELF.IT'S GOOD TO LET LOOSE SINGING EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE.FEELS GREAT.
MY FAVORITE IS " O HOLY NIGHT" SUNG BY JOSH GROBIN AND OF COURSE MY DAD.....OH, YES AND ELVIS, ANY CHRISTMAS SONG BY ELVIS.

Ok....I will try this again!! Just had my post all typed and clicked to add it and shoot!! I'd been disconnected from the Internet!!!
Julie, I'm sorry about your dad. It's great that you have such fond memories of him though....especially at Christmas time! And the cd with him singing is a precious memory, I am sure.
I think my favorite Christmas song is "Silent Night" with "O Holy Night" coming in second. My aunt, who passed away many years ago used to sing "O Holy Night" and hit all of those high notes. She loved to sing! Whenever I hear or sing "O Holy Night," I close my eyes and I can hear her singing it!
I also love to hear Reba McEntire sing Christmas songs.....I have two of her Christmas cd's and listen to them over and over at Christmas time.
Well, Julie, you have me in the Christmas singing mood now! I'm in New York and we got at least three inches of snow today so that puts me more into the Christmas singing mood!!!

sounds like your dad was a great guy.i can feel how much you miss him. i agree love the king elvis, great stuff. love all the classic, bing singing white christmas.i think i will put some on as well.

I too love the Christmas Music. My dad died in a car accident Christmas night many years ago. It took some time before I was able to enjoy the holidays with out feeling sad.

I love to sing (used to sing in the church choir as a teen and also sang in my High School French Choir, which toured the state.) So I love all types of christmas songs. I don't really hae a favorite, but I love hearing Stevie Nicks version of Silent Night.
Some of stuff I like to play as background music is Manheim Steamroller - all instrumental but oh so beautiful.

Julie I love O Holy Night have for years. Elvis does sing it so beautifully. My dad was a very good singer too. Played trumphet, harmonica, piano, organ but me? Nope can not even carry a tune but love to sing and was in the church choir but my voice cracks now. I miss my dad , he died in 1999. All Christmas songs cheer me up love this time of the year.

Irma, I'm so sorry about your dad. I have friends and relatives who've lost loved ones on or around holidays and I know how difficult it is when that time of year comes around for them. God bless you and may you try to focus and remember the great memories shared with your dad.

I can't even begin to choose a favorite - I love Christmas music and have a ton of cds to prove it. I will admit, though, that "Silent Night" makes me cry - every time! I also like Manheim Steamroller which I play while baking, but when I am making our Christmas cards every year, I have to play Trans Siberian Orchestra. I was lucky enough to see them in concert a couple of years ago. Awesome!

I love the Christmas music, too. I have to admitt, though, I'm more of the croaky type!! Since an operation on my thyroid some years back, well, it isn't what it used to be, for sure!! But as the kids grew I would use their puppets, put on Christmas music, hide under the dining room table as the puppets sang Christmas songs to the kids!! Before long they were singing right along with those puppets!!! I won't be remembered with a lovely voice like Julie's dad or Carol's aunt but maybe they'll remember how we would laugh & sing with the puppets. It was alot of fun and it taught them to use what you got. You can still enjoy music when you aren't as fortunate to have a lovely voice. By the way, isn't it "make a joyful noise to the Lord" ? Some of us are a little more "noisey" than others but it's all in the attitude!! hahaha!

You're absolutely right, Robin......the Bible tells us to "Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord!" Preston hit it right on the nose: You don't have to have a great voice to enjoy music!!! The important thing is that you enjoy it and sing along.....no matter how loud you might think you are croaking!! Sounds like you had some wonderful times and fun with your kids and THAT is what they will remember!
I love all kinds of music, too.....well....most of it, I should say. Preston mentioning playful songs made me think of Alvin and the Chipmunks!! I love hearing their Christmas music!!
And Erica....I have a lot of Christmas cd's, too, and practically wear them out during December! I love listening to Christmas music while I wrap gifts and decorate the tree.

I do sing to the music when driving Hunter. People in other cars that see me must think I am nuts. Well I do come from a long line of nuts, lol and will coninue to be nutty and sing along. Take care, got some Christmas decorations up already. Will mix them in with my Thanksgiving ones.

My favorite Christmas song is Oh Holy Night sung by Aaron Neville. He also sings the Lord's Prayer and I get goose bumps every time!
