Fear of fire in our own home is a realistic concernmanyofushave.
Do you know how to prevent a kitchen fire?
Do you know what to  do in case you have a kitchen fire?

Here is a list of  tips  & pointers to help keep you & your home safe:

TO PREVENT KITCHEN FIRES:

1-Keep an eye on your cooking  & stay in the kitchen; Unattended cooking is the  #1 cause of cooking fires !
2-Wear short or close fitting sleeves.Loose clothing can catch fire!
3- Watch children closely. When old enough, teach children to cook  safely.
4-Clean cooking surfaces to prevent food & grease buildup.
5-Keep curtains, towels & pot holders away from hot surfaces, and store solvents and flammable cleaners away from heat sources 
6-Never keep gasoline in the house!
7-Turn pan handles inward  to prevent food spills 
8-TO PUT OUT A COOKING FIRE, IN YOUR KITCHEN:
1-Call the fire department, immediately.
In many cases, dialing   911 will give you “emergency services”
2-Slide a pan lid or cover over flames to  smother a grease or oil fire, then turn off the heat and  leave the lid in place until the pan coolsNEVER CARRY THE  PAN OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!
3-Extinguish other food fires w/ baking soda!
4- NEVER use water or flour on cooking fires!
5-Keep the oven/broiler door shut & turn off the heat to smother an oven or broiler fire!
6-Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen….Make sure you have the right type & training
7-Keep a working smoke detector in your home & test it monthly!

I voted : I'vebeen cooking safely fo rmany yea s & never had a kitchen fire.
because I'm a fanatic about fire safety .... and the fire extinguisher is right under the sink,
always where I can reach it.

It is always good to get safety reminders.  Even if we know them, we tend to forget over time.
