when my kitchen faucet blew up on christmas eve, i had been putting off buying one because my plumber and all the store clerks told me i could not put in one that had a separate sprayer that come up beside the faucet because i did not have 4 holes in my sink-----------having lived almost 18 yrs without this convenience i realloy still wanted it---------------i would not even consider the ones that pulled out of the spigot, nor a uni-lever faucet-------and i hate those awful builder-style handles on all my faucets, the round clear acrylic things that cause me so much difficulty------but they are on all my faucets

sat when my cleaning lady came over to help me with my faucet , she called another neighbor that had tools and knowledge to help us-----------------and he told me that if i would go monday and buy the faucet i wanted he would come back and drill a 4th hole and install it for me-----------i did and he did on tues--------------i love my new faucet with lever handles and a sprayer mounted beside it-------so simple---------why did no one ever suggest this?

he also told me that the building centers also sell levers of all types and that if i want to make all my faucets levers------------------you just pop out the top of that round thing, unscrew them and put on the ones you want------------------so really soon i will do that-------------my son's m-i-l is going to help me

So sorry to hear about your faucet blowing up Nellie.  That was so nice of your neighbor to help you out.

We have those round things on the faucets in the bathrooms and I hate them too.  They always look dirty.  Thanks for the info on this.  Maybe I can get my husband to check it out and replace those ugly things soon.

if you look at the top---------the round center piece can be lifted with a screwdriver---------inside is the device  that holds it on---------simply remove that and it comes up and off--------------he told me we should always take them off when cleaning so you can get all the gunk off

because i have gripping problems they have always been a problem for me

this site won't let me use the correct word for the device --but it is the first word of the tool i mentioned

Ironically, we have a kitchen faucet that needs to be replaced too. Can't wait to start checking out what's available. I also prefer the sprayer that is separate from the faucet.

thanks for caring
i took him and the cleaning lady to dinner last night-----------and sat morning i had given her a bag of pillsbury freezer grands-------18 eggs---and a pound of bacon that she cooked for him and her son before they went shopping and on to her family party

nancy g

i suspect that like me you have lived alone for a long time, and always took care  of what you needed and  helped others with anything asked of you----------like me, you need to learn that it's really ok to ask for help when you need it   and with all the baking and gifting you do -----------------you're sure to find help--------------put up a notice at church asking for (paid) odd job help--------------------with everyone needing help you might accidentally find someone like my cleaning lady----------------------i don't know why i call her that----because she is so much more-----------------and i met her when she came to help watch a fire with a guy that was trying to burn out my stumps and tear down my shed damaged in hurricane ike-------------because she had been layed off from her job at S&S----------------she has cleaned my house --------and carted off things not wanted-----now she comes by once or twice a week and takes care of things that i can't do anymore--------i pay her once a month---------not nearlly what she's worth

I have levers on my faucets now.  I replaced (not personally) my bathroom sink/counter--got a one piece thing-- and new faucet with a lever.  The old one had a round thing that pulled, but after a number of years, you needed to be a sumo wrestler to pull it on
