When I can make myself get going I'm carrying stuff to a local CPA office. What/When are you doing your tax work? (if you've already done it don't tell me!!  Just teasing)

generally i have done mine in the 1st wk in january--------so i know what i'll owe-------but wait until 4/15 to mail w/ a check

but since they quit sending out the forms-----------and my printer went on the blink-------and the library didn't put out the forms and phamplets until feb----------i haven't even peeked at anything------------although i had them start taking out a fixed sum last year and i really shouldn't owe nearly as much as i have been

since i started getting ss checks--------------------i absolutely hate that form i have to fill in to figure out that i have to pay on 85% of my ss earnings-------------and i refuse to pay someone over a hundred dollars to do it for me-----------

When I finally left this site I opened the huge envelope that CPA had sent me weeks ago.   It was pages and pages and pages of questions for me to answer 'yes' or 'no'.  Whew.  (I don't remember doing that the past years).  When I got to the final pages asking for all sorts of stuff and especially NUMBERS it was all already filled out!!   Somehow the CPA had done it all!!
When I went to her office I told the secretary I wasn't doing this again ... this was my last year.  She just laughed and said they would call me if I didn't bring them all the papers

Still waiting for a dividend form.....it's later and later every year......and when it does get here.....it isn't worth the paper that it's printed on!!  So, I just wait it out.  Usually get something back, so by the time I get it, the weather is nice and I can go SHOPPING!!

My husband announced last week that we finally had received all the statements that we need to file our taxes.  We have an appointment with our CPA next Monday.  She will file our tax forms electronically.

Barbara -- that's one of the many questions on the papers I did this morning.... Can my forms be filed electronically?   Yikes.  I didn't know the answer but I know if my CPA wanted to file them that way it's just fine.

the reason they ask that up front is because people that owe money, usually have them give them the paper forms and mail them in on april 15----if you file electronically-------you have to pay right then

If you file electronically, and you owe money, you will receive a payment voucher that you  send in with you check anytime before April 15.  Although this year April 15 is a Sunday ,so your check can arrive Monday April 16.

Gee, I feel like a slacker!  LOL.  Last week I put all the papers in order as a pre-cursor of doing the taxes, took hours.  And, I'm sure when I get started filing the return there will probably be something missing or out of order.......there always is.

Last year I started the tax return in February and finally got it done in April.  My husband is a BIG procrastinator and always wants to wait until the last minute.  As for me, I would just like to get it done and over with as quick as possible.

We've done our own taxes for years, using Turbo Tax. During the years that we owe money, we file on the last day. If we're getting money back, we try to file by the end of Feb. This year we're waiting for a revised W2 for my husband. The payroll people put his gross income too high...imagine that. I think we're receiving a refund - yippee!!!

I am blessed in the fact that my husband does our taxes.  He had worked as a volunteer in tax help when we lived in Alabama.
