I am way too frugal to bet on anything, so horse racing has never peeked my interest.

You don't have to bet to watch the races.  Or you can bet among friends with no money changing hands.  Race tracks are usually very pretty with lush grass & fountains & such.

Went once before my husband and I were married.  I had never been before.  Bet, not much, but won.  Haven't been since.

If you are going to bet, winning is much more fun than not!  LOL  I don't go often myself & it is not that far from my home.
I would probably never go if I had to drive a long distance.

I have never been to a horse race, but if I could get that 25 cents deal, I would definitely consider it.

My husband & I were late getting there - they were already having the 3rd race.  So you can tell we are not really serious about this.
But as we were walking in, there were people leaving with many foil packets and drinks.  We learned later that those were the hot
dogs.  The 25 cent deal was great!  My biggest problem was not the gambling it was resisting the expensive ice cream!  Laughing

In Response to Horse Racing : We have a beautiful track nearby..Arlington Park.  It is a beautiful place, the setting is gorgeous the grounds are beautiful and the horses are magnificent. Now $0.25 is a deal you almost can't pass up! If I go to the track I will bet a few dollars but will keep what I win and when the set amount is gone so am I.  That set amount is never more than $20.00 (usually less) and I consider that my entertainment "fee".

Oh, Arlington Park - remember it well, and fondly!  Nowadays, I watch the Triple Crown races on TV and that's it for me, but I adore riding (western style) and horses in general.  I'm hoping that my balance and strength will continue to improve so that I can mount up once again! Last time I was able to ride was in Alaska almost 4 years ago. ..

We have gone to the horse races at Oaklawn in Hot Springs, AR, Keene Land and the Red Mile in Lexington, KY, and Church Hill Downs in Louisville, KY.  The horses and races are fablulous.
