Winter can indeed be a happy time - projects which were put on hold during summer garden chores, then fall projects to get the place buttoned up before winter.  Ahh, deep breath.  Then Christmas - fun.
But winter is a time to hunker down and finish some things.
Hubby and I have promised ouselves to sort old photos and slides. put them in order, and convert some old slides to computer files etc.
Of course I'll have to do some baking to fortify ourselves for the task.
May you all have a cozy, satisfying winter.

This is the shortest day of the year?  This winter I hope everyone is happy, heathy and warm.  I guess Winter actually begins tomorrow.

Winter?   It sure doesn't seem like winter. But like Angela said - days will be getting longer.  I like that!

Great day!  I "delude" myself by telling myself that the winter is "not that bad".
Once the shortest day is over the days begin to get longer. The more daylight the better!
So far we have not had real cold temperatures.
I feel that it does not get "bad" until January.
By then the days are getting much longer and February is such a short month that it "almost" doesn't count.
Then March shows up and Spring is here!
I keep telling myself this...someday I will believe it.  It helps me get through the winter.

Another celebration of this time of year ..... at church tonight we're having a candle light ceremony to start celebrating Christmas.  It's really a lovely evening.

To all in the Northern Illinois area....I just made sure it will not snow this year...
I purchased a new snow shovel.
Like a fire extinguisher it is something that you buy hoping that you will never have to use it.
That is an insane idea living in northern Illinois but I can dream can't I?
