ann,
i'm really glad you have what you want

but everyone is not the same, nor do we all agree that we need this companionship
i was lucky enough to find a very good job to support my son     with all benefits  and a generous retirement that cannot be alterred  and i was able to retire at the age of 53 when my g.s. was born
i had to be a working mom-----------but grandma didn't have to work          and it's been very nice
i have no desire at this stage of life to "find" mr. right
maybe you look at that as tragedy        but i assure you that i do not find it so

Hi NELLIE V ; GRANA here;Iagree w/ both you& VICKI S   that it is better to be alone than to just "hook up"   w/ the wrong person just to not be  alone  is not a good thing. Finding a friend  &  companion is the best of  life .Denying oneselff that oportunity is a tragedy  in my  mind

 Ann, for me it is sad. When I was little whenever people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always answered "have my own house and have girls and be married." Well, I got the girls! SmileI had always wanted what you seem to have found. You are so lucky & I wish you both a very happy Valentines' day!  :>) Treasure it.

Knowing what you want & being happy w/it; is no tragedy I meant (a tragedy   when a person is sad in  the  place they put themselves out of fear of not choosing right . I know too many people  who  made the  choice to remain single &  now years later  regret it
I also know people so fearful of dying alone; they are missing out on a joyous life staying w/a person w/ whom they  are miserable My great uncle   brought flowers to  my GreatAunts  gravesite andspent hours  reading poetry to her  there as he did when she was alive......to be loved so much &  know it in lfe was at JOY to her te in her  GOLDEN YEARS &  where I got my ideas about ROMANCE ...myy foster parents were  also an example of romance in marriage; they were two minds & hearts thinking & beatng as one supporting each others goals w pride in& for the successes of the other.They were quietly romantic[no outward displays of passion but obvious in their  love & supportt of &  concern for each ther; similar  to a movie made in the 40's  happy to be together w/ shared  goals  &  kindnes KissCool

GRANA here; The companionship does not have be from Mr right ; it could come  from a relationship w/g-d or a pet or from dedication to a job or social issues  I have  seen too many lonely people w/o a sense of purpose who seem so empty, vacant &  bitter.You have your wonderful family to fill the space in your life &  heart; no tragedy there..I apologize for  seeming to put down your wonderfuly satisfying life; not my itention at all.Embarassed

After reading the posts ....I feel like the newlywed here..I have only been married 33 years...my hubby is everything to me and I plan on making him a special dinner ...make him a special dessert...

I don't think it was Ann's intention to tell people how to live their lives or what is best for them.She was just making a generalized statement with no harm intended.Love comes in many forms,it comes from within us all if we only let it.

the first time she insisted i kind of let it pass, but after having my name called the 5th time and having it repeated , i was truly offended

i don't think  or  agree with a lot of things that are posted on this site, as i'm sure is true of all of us
and generally let it slide by

after all, we don't know everyone that well   or even if what they say is true         but      we don't need to call each other down about our choices or beliefs        or about tv shows we watch or books we read
etc.

 Onceone again,I apolgize for y carelessly  writen wordsrds I only mant that a man is not the only way  to  be complete/happy; for some a pet prevents the loneliness; others are  completed in their relationship w/ G-D I think you are one of those as are some of the nicest & happiest people I know Innocent

Thanks frunderstanding myheart; It seemed appropriate in this season to  mention that there are other ways to  be happy.I believe that there are so many divorces50% because of people marrying for the wrong reasons; sinancial support; lust & social position are wrongreasons. Perhaps a life partner who contributes to your living as the good LORD d intended is suitable?
If you can live apropriately alone , that is your choice & I've no negative thoughts on that choice.You may end p alone & that can be sad but here are otherways to live a purposeful life

I want to end the bitternessI have provoked by my ill spoken/ written  words.I was taught @ church that  the good lord meant for all of uss to marry &  raise families[procretion]; be happy& fullfilled.
I know that many find that fulfillment in a selfless relatonship w/G-D but   for those who that is not G-D's intention,I wish for them  to find that G-D  desired JOY  however their life was intended

 Iam sorry for adding to your sorrows not my intention;I was shortsighted andonlysaw my own happiness in  getting my own childhood desire fullfilled; We both came very close o loosing the other over our 50 years of marriage: he worked inThaiand in the vienam era & might have been killed doing hois job as ground suport forn or pilotsHe worked i Iran uring the revolution & theSha's disposalal &  was surrounded bymachine guns during mch of his time therre ..Once home ,Iwas hitby a drunk driver  by a drunk driver& though not killed outright, later sufferedd a massive stroke that left me partially paralized & in pain
 He survived a heart attack that led to  a uptured spleen & it's removal.I am currently still recovering ing  frorm the removal  of a mass in one kidney & am facing sugery to remove another mass in the remaining    kidney
.I am still on low dose of pain meds&  choose to use that as my reason for thougtlessness &  ill written  words; perhaps my  being up  till 0600 hrs he nights  of mypoor ubject choice  &  speaking my m foolish mnd may be blamed on the meds;....none the less humby apologize to all  &  will make a greater effor to be more  considerate

Oh Ann you said nothing wrong,it was taken the wrong way..I was a very happily married woman until the Lord called my sweetheart home..It would take a very special person to turn my head the second time..But I will never be alone.My two sons are here with me I have a great brother,  five beautiful nieces,wonderful cousins..Oh yes and my two puppies,who keep me very busy.I'm also have wonderful friends.Take care.
