DO YOU HAVE A GUN IN YOUR HOUSE?

the answer to that question changed for me yesterday-----when my son loaned me a 22 automatic deer rifle------until we can go and purchase one for me--------not a pistol---------it is propped right beside me (locked and loaded) as i sit here and will move around with me

at 7:30 am yesterday morning while i was on the computer my dog started barking in that way that i knew someone was there------------i walked into my breakfast room and saw 3 deputies in my backyard with their guns drawn and pointed at my neighbors back door---in front of her house were 3 more with the big guns they keep in their trunks--there were 5 patrol cars-------------after they came out of her house -------------one came up to my back door (actually on the side) and asked me questions about cars i might have seen and so forth
-------------and after they all left ------------this neighbor --------my rx drug addicted niece stood on her porch screaming obscenities at me---------that went on several times yesterday------when i called my b.i.l.  to see if he could try to do something with her he filled me in on this------------

they were looking for 2 brothers that had committed a home invasion robbery near here the day before -----the woman and her 10 yr old son were at home ------she got a rifle and they fled-----the only reason they had a rifle was because her father had given it to her older son for christmas---that situation also changed for them -----they have caught one brother

that same day there were 17 robberies of this type in my county-------there have been many , many more------a lot involving elderly people-------a few of them have actuually been killed ---or severely beaten

There are several guns in my house already.  My husband has a couple handguns and a gun for hunting.  I hope I never need to take any of them out.  But I know where they are.

No.  We do not have a gun in our house.  I am too afraid of someone getting accidentally hurt with it or having it used on me.  My father-in-law has one and just last year my son found it and shot it.  Thankfully, no one was hurt, but a window got broken.  The scary part was that shortly before the gun went off, I was near that window cutting the grass for them.  My father-in-law has this gun for protection, but I worry because he can't see very well and he often leaves it propped up in places where it can get accidentally knocked down and possibly go off.  I can't blame you for wanting to protect yourself, just PLEASE PLEASE be careful.

WE have several guns in the house. they are used for hunting.
All my grandchildren hunt also and they have guns in their homes.
All my children also hunt. We like the meat that comes from hunting.
We do not waste any. My husband, son and son-in-law were all in
the service of our country. I that pride in that fact.

we have 2 hand guns  as we are in the country no street lights  and there have been breakin s on older people

that's how i have been for 68 yrs and i never thought i would have one-----------but i live alone--and in an area of the county that has very slow response times ------and mostly very slow connections if you call --911---they have to transfer our calls to the precinct------------my son has been trying for years to make me get one-------------and yesterday he didn't give me a choice-----------and in fact the gun i have is my g.s---------and has a slide lock in the trigger mechanism from the mfg, not an add on------------but if i have visitors it will be put away-----tomorrow i'm taking it to his house to practice firing it-----------------

No guns at this point. I will be taking a gun safety course and get my permit to carry, etc. Would only want a rifle in the house, however. Don't want anything smaller than that in the house with the grandchildren around......

For most of n my life(nearly 68 yrs & marriage ( nearly 50yrs)therehave been no guns in my home; In NYC to difficultto get alicense & I was  always afraid of accidental fiing or r the bad guy getting ahold of it.
We have 3 handguns now:one unloaded;one w/o firing pin & one RTGtg in a safe place known to hubby,fully licensed.W/ all the home invasions onthe news, he made the decisionto get one, went through allthe legal poceedures.
The 2 non-useable ones make god aperweights &  if thebad guy tries to use it;he'll  "BE SORRY";Surprised while he's wasting his time, hubby wil get his live ne& feel no guilt if he has to use it.Cool
I  don't know or think I could use one so no point in me kowing its location: />)

We will never have a gun in our home.  We do have a security system, and we set it when we feel it is necessary.
My husband is a retired Chief Probation Officer and would never let his deputies carry guns, as they were more apt to be used against them, or stolen from them.  He always told them that if they felt threatened to call the police or take the police with them if it was a difficult or threatening situation.  He never had any of his deputies ever threatened or attacked in 35 years.

I don't think I'll ever own one again .  I lived in a house with hundreds of guns - hand guns and rifles - cases and cases of ammo.  I was more afraid of those than I was of what they were supposed to do.
Sometimes I think I should go ahead and buy one NOW .... I don't think they will be available too much longer.

I have to agree with you Gale.  Just recently a woman, who lives a few blocks over, stopped by to tell my husband about a rash of robberies around here lately.  That was the first we had heard about them.  What surprised me was that noone thought to inform the neighborhood.  Fortunately this fool was caught right after that.  Personally, I have never fired a gun of any kind(except at a carnival lol)  but the way things are going I may have to learn.

My husband has guns that he used to hunt with when he lived in MI. We still have
them and I know where they are. We have had some home invasions but not in
our area.

The only gun in our house is a civil war muzzleloader!  lol lol
It had been my granfather's so we keep it as a family keepsake.
One would need quite a bit of knowledge of that type of gun in order to use it.  lol

My son has a gun.  They live next to farm fields so occasionally there are varmints, critters & such. There is a gun range a few miles over so he can keep his skills sharp.

My husband has no interest in hunting so we sold the rifle that my dad had hunted with.  So no guns.

We don't have any guns in our possession. When my husband was a teenager, his dad was killed in a hunting accident, and that has influenced his decision not to have any in our house. I grew up on an Iowa farm and my brother's had hunting rifles. We weren't given any directions by my parents, but we children all seemed to instinctively know how to handle them. Currently we feel quite safe where we live and haven't felt a need to arm ourselves. Now, on the other hand, my Navy son has guns and loves to go to the firing range when he's on base.

Hi H. M. We have a neighborhood watch and my friends husband is a member .He stopped by the other day to let us know a lot of break-ins were occurring all around us.I knew even before the news came out with it.This is something everyone should have in their neighborhoods.If you don't call your area police and find out how to start one.My friend goes to meetings quit often and is kept updated on the things going on in our area and he then passes this on to all of us.These people breaking in park in a driveway like they are visiting knock on the door,if no one answers,they break in.I never answer my door when no one is home with me.If some one enters your home when you are home then I feel you have every right to protect yourself.If they know you are home I feel their intent is to harm you.My brother has his concealed carry license.I feel this is a good thing it will make a Thug think twice about messing with someone especially when no one knows who is carrying.The Thugs will always get their guns no matter what laws would be passed to ban them.We as citizens should never give up our right to bear arms,our forefather fought for that right.If anyone decides to own a gun,get your concealed carry license.You will be taught the law,your rights and how to properly handle a gun.

My husband has one because of this. What a shame that we need to protect ourselves in this way. Evil seems to be in abundance today. I am glad that your son saw fit to arm you too.
