In Response to Re: Gum in carpet:
Instructions Get Rid of That Gum 1 Freeze the gum. You can freeze it with ice or canned air. If you are using ice, put the ice in a zipper bag and place the bag on top of the gum. In about 15 or 20 minutes, the gum should freeze solid, and you will be able to carefully peel the gum away from the carpet. If you are using canned air (the stuff that you use to clean computer keyboards and other electronic equipment), shake the can and spray directly on the gum. The gum should become brittle. Crack the gum with a hammer and vacuum the pieces. 2 Use multi-purpose cleaners or steam cleaning. Goo-Gone is an oil based product that cuts through the stickiness. You should be able to remove the gum with a little bit of rubbing. As with all chemicals, test on a hidden part of the carpet to be sure that Goo-Gone will not discolor or otherwise ruin your carpet. You can use any of the multi-purpose cleaners on the market but be prepared to do a lot of scrubbing in order for them to work. Scrub gently so you don’t harm the carpet fibers. Be sure to test the product on a hidden section of rug to be sure that it does not discolor or otherwise ruin your carpet. 3 Steam clean your carpet. Rent a steamer if you do not have one at home. Be sure to get the cleaning solution that goes with the particular steamer. You will have to go over the gum many times to loosen it, but a steam cleaner with the proper chemicals will remove the gum from the carpet. I have used Goo Gone already I bought a floor model toilet a very expensive one for $20 because it was a floor model they glued the lid on and I put the goo gone on it came right off.

Gale that was a good deal you got on the toilet! I've bought floor models twice. One was a BBQ and the other was a TV. Wasn't sorry either time.
