Well, it's going to be that time shortly to start the flower or vegetable gardens. So how many of you have the green thumb and what is going to be growing in your garden this summer?

I gave up planting anything.  I killed two trees trying to "prune" them.  All my bulbs were eaten by squirrels or voles.  I can't even keep plants alive inside the house.  I have a black thumb.

Nikki --- you have black walnut trees!!!   On my goodness -lol- oh my jealousy.  (Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's goods  but, forgive me, I covet your walnuts)
The only place I can get those nuts is WalMart at high price .... and the nuts don't taste "right".
Christmas divinity "needs" black walnuts.
And the trees are so beautiful.

I plan on planting upside down tomatoes and green beans this year.  My neighbor plants onions and corn to the south of us and the neighbor to the north plants squash, zucchini and potatoes.  We all plan on exchanging as the get ripe.

I usually plant a few tomato plants and a pepper plant.  One year my mom gave me a broccoli plant and I had that as well.  I know I'll do the tomatoes again this year, but not sure what else.

I planted seeds of tomato, pepper and eggplant before I went to the hospital.  They have all come up in their little containers so yesterday and today I've been transplanting the little plants to bigger cups/pots where they will stay until May.  I have lights in my basement so they grow well. My wonderful husband waters and turns them when i don't get downstairs.  Later I will plant cucumbers, zuke, winter squash and oh, yes, I have some cabbage that needs transplanting.
I have over 150 plants in my house that go out for the summer. Winter makes my house look like a jungle.  There's lots of pots, large and small.  I must have inherited my grandfather's green thumb.

hmmmmmmmmmm  Elsa -- I wasn't going to try anything this year.  You've made me think --- maybe I could have a couple of the upsifde down tomatoes.
But how on earth do you attach such things to the edge of a roof?

In my basement under lights, I have tomatoes, peppers, egg plant and lettuce.  I plan to put the tomatoes out the first part of May. I'm thinking the lettuces can go out sometime next month if it dries up enough.  Later when it gets warm, probably middle of May, I'll plant beans, squash and cucumbers.  I do both zucchini type squash and butternut.  In fact I still have some butternut left from last year's garden.  They keep really well if they are sound when harvested.
