I went shopping the other day and I'm just sick over the prices on groceries.They keep going up and up.Ground beef 80/20 on sale is $2.99 a # that's twice as much as before.Everything seems to be 50 c

GRANA  here;  One word  answer: OBSCENE; barely able to stay w/in newly ADJUSTED/ (slightly increased) budget.
Even cutting back even further on meat consumption,. using more coupos buying marked down items when popssible Itis really tough to  not  go over the budget.
But w/no COLA increase( social ecurity) there's no choice but to eat less & fill up on tap  waterYell
I'm  GREATFUL it's just us; no kids going HUNGRY; I don't  know  how  young families are managingUndecided

Prices are high here in central IL just as everywhere else.  With the crazy weather we have had this growing season, prices will be going even higher. 
The farmers are not getting great benefit from higher prices retail. 
Local farmers markets are a good way to get quality fresh produce and help the local economy as well.  Most people don't mind paying well for fresh fruits and veggies when the quality is great and the money is right here with our local growers.

Same here in southern Alabama, Gale. The increase in almost every shelf item is shocking. I sometimes reach for a product, then see the new price on the shelf and a lot of times, put it back. I am visiting more and more stores just to pick up sales. We only have one market in town that will double coupons up to 50 cents. I drive a car with good mileage so I'm able to do this. I just hate the inconvenience. Most of all the coupons printed today are for cleaning products or junk food or food items with a huge markup already. i cook all our meals, make my freezer pay for itself with cooking extra for freezing, etc. I work at a food pantry for the needy every week and our lines are getting longer and longer. Last August we helped about 600 families and this year, that number increased to 1,000.

Hi Elizabeth,Welcome to VBB,I'm hearing the same everywhere from everyone.I do like when I can get a deal on dish soap and the like.I stock up that free's up a little money to spend on groceries.I only buy sale items for the most part and use my double coupons when I can.It's horrible where we are now but I fear it's going to get worse.I don't feel that eating is a luxury but a necessity.God bless you for your work feeding the hungry.In this great country of ours no-one should go hungry,especially a child.

I had two women standing behind me at the checkout the other day and they noticed I had a hand full of coupons. They commented on how long it was going to take because of all my coupons. I have to coupon, I don’t buy much unless it’s on sale and I have a coupon! Not only are prices going through the roof the SIZE of everything has gotten SMALLER. Now I’m looking for coupons everywhere.

Everything is going up here in Central Texas, too. Thank goodness we're on a military instilation, so we get a bit of a break with tax cuts and such. Not very much for coupons that are worth it for mu husband and I.

What really urks me is the produce around here! It makes me cringe to buy the best of what's offered here, when it's considered crud where I grew up. I haven't seen peaches that are the size of plums and about as dry as pop corn, anywhere expect for here. But here they are. It's depressing.

Mt Olive pickles were on sale for 2.97 a jar . I paid 1.14 a jar using triple coupons.

Lorie T.I would just ignore those women and their comments.They probably have nothing better to do than stand in a grocery check out line and complain,if not here some where else.There are a lot of rude people out there.You continue what you have to do to feed your family.I also shop with coupons and most of the time the people behind me are astonished by my savings and want to know how I do it.What I do if I see someone behind me before the cashier has started my order is offer to let the person behind me to go ahead of me.After my order is started I tell the people behind me it might be awhile.

i live in seaford de the price of everything is up we have 2 stores here food lion and walmart. food lion has some sales then with a coupon you can save   walmart raises prices weekly  we have people from md and va shop here to save on tax as  md and va have tax on everything you buy. we are tax free so tha helps. its going to get nasty out there if something dont change people are poor in this town. god help us all

Hi GALE     Sadly you & I are notthe onlyone, facingthese inflatedprices..but not evreyone seems  to notice or care about these prices......Hubby &  observe people w/ a checkout tota lof $150+ & to our eyes nothing in the cart to make into a meal.There are soft   drinks,asst.chips,pretzels,packaged cookies; prepared cakes& pastries, mostly  snack foods;, pre-made- meatballs& pre- shaped burgers; no poulry , fish fruits or veggies. No coupons are used or  store brands purhased; brand names@ regular &  not sale prices& w/o even using the coupons available on a bulliten board a t the front of the store.Many are our nighbors "dinks" ( dual incomes no kids)& I guess they feel no need to watch the bottom line????   We see them coming  home w/ take out pzzaa at least once a week.Many eat breakfst ou daily on the way to work& most buy takeout coffee & likely never brew a pot of coffee at home.Maybe I'm jealous? Undecided never in my life was I able to ignore prices or not care about how to cut costs Money mouth  Other seniors ,like us,check out the marked down meats & produce & use  coupons obviously caring about the cost of what they purchase.SmileMaybethe" dinks" feel entitledto bewasteful sincethey work"so hrd" I wonder what they wil do when one or both lose their jobs or they have a family or illness cuting one income off & adding more expenses?????Frown

IHiMAXINE; You got a good deal on those pckles!!!!!!!!!!!!no stores here  triple or even double coupons...hubby wants ipickles this week& we may have to give up fresh fruits to get them? or  over budget./ Yell     prices in your area?:

Hi Ann,Nice to see you back! I still do Ok at the store but it used to be a whole lot better.It used to be less expensive for ingredients to make your own food ,not true any longer.This week they had 2/$3 for Ragu sauce and you got a free pound of pasta for every two you bought.I bought 12 jars and got 6# pasta for free.I use the sauce for stuffed cabbage and stuffed peppers or where ever I use tomato sauce.Buying "Gourmet" coffee is the biggest money pit ever $3 and up for a cup.Do that everyday for a month and you've spent $90.I bought several French press coffee pots second hand and I enjoy Gourmet coffee anytime I want for pennies a cup.People need to wake up and smell the coffee before they won't be able to even eat.

Texas is in a major drought so the available produce most likely reflects that.  In central IL we have had a drought as well but nothng as bad as TX.  Even so, it has affected our local produce.   So, my sympathies at the market.

I stopped to purchased a contained of Apple juice and glanced at the reduced meat and saw two 93 percent beef patties on sale for 2.42. I used a dollar off COUPON and paid 1.42 for the beef patties.
