While at my Mom's today I looked at the sale papers for the stores near her.  Shop 'N Save is having an anniversary sale and boy are some of the prices great!  Sirloin pork roast - $1.39 lb, boneless, skinless chicken breast - $1.29 lb. , tomatoes - 29 cents lb.  Think I know where we're going shopping this week lol.

GRANA  here;
Since you ask;
Grocery prices are *O*B*S*C*E*N*E* ly HIGHYell
as ifthehigher prices arenot enough:
Sale items are not on the shelf; don'tarrive onWednesday [regular delivery day]; may  arrive on Friday?  & e thenare not replaced on the shelf; signs say one thing thea ad  something elsse s &  then ring up at an even higher price. Coupons are often not credited.....Of course Customer Service wil make things ight,( raincheck, refund whatever,but that takes extra time &  they'recounting on people being too busy or tired to take te necessary time.
This week, for example:
 A ltr.  bottleof  generic  mouthwash  on ad for$1.79 ...onthe shelf,  1/2 litre botles were onthefront row & available for that price.Hubby ( trained by me) looked behind the front row & found the   orrect  saleitem ......It rang up for 20 cents more. I called was told to bring in my receipt for an adjustment; I plan to do that even  though it'sonly $.20 .
We bought strawberries  not on ad, only 2 pkg were out.One looked bad but hubby knew the mfr. would make good on the bad quality when I call hem... how many people have the time to take for such nonesense?
I had a $2  coupon   from the last poor quality  purchase, It was given to the cashier w/o creiting us.I wil hand it in nextvsit w/ receipt & get my $2 then!
Grocery shoping is a bad enough chore w/o it being made into a confrontationl experience at everystep & turn.
We went $12 over  budget last week but after credits & refunds only by $6.Other storess might be better but drivingt the extra 6 miles each way will add additional cost toour grocery bill, not counting the  extra  travel time..Every store& restaurantisnowplayingthesetricks; in an efortto makemore moneyfrom eachcustomer& sale.If were able to drive myself & take the timet to fight it out,
I would, but that's not healthy either.

The prices at the grocery store and the price of gas keep rising in New Jersey.  I make my grocery list by checking the flyer to see what is on sale and I also use coupons.  Try to buy larger packages and use some and freeze some or make all of it and freeze half of it for quick meals when necessary.  My brother saw gas yesterday for $4.29/gallon.  It is sad and scary.  What ever happened to the Good old days?

my 2 g.s birthdays are 8 days apart in february so we always have a double party---plus a third party(cousin) lately has brought their cake too-----------------it's always-----------brisket, ribs and sausage------------and lots of trimmings------------his other g.m. and i have traditionally bought the meats when we could catch sales-----but this year we managed to find pork ribs for 99 cents------------------but no one has had brisket on since forever-------------------so yesterday i was forced to bite the bullet ---------and pay sam's club (cheapest in town) 2.38 per lb for 3 briskets---------------ouch!

Somethings go and then they come down.I'm still able to shop with coupons and sale items and still eat well.I'm worried about the projected gas prices.When gas goes up that is when the grocery prices sky rocket.everything goes up in price and the product sizes keep getting smaller.There were no coupons this past Sunday,I sure hope they make up for that this week.

monday i had to go to walmart to pick up a rx my doc had called in----while i was there i decided to pick up a new tube of colgate total toothpaste------------the last time i got that new one with the mint stripe in it and it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth-------------when i picked up a 6 oz tube i noticed that they had a double pack of 6 oz tubes for only 5.38 ---------i looked back at the single tube and it was only 2.46 -----------so i took both to the cashier who checked the prices and verified them-----------i asked for the mgr for a lower price-----------and he explained that that all comes pre-packaged that way and he had no control over the price-when i insisted that it was misleading to have a higher price on a pkg that stated get a savings by buying two------------most people wouldn' even bother to ck it-----------------he offered me the double for 5.00---but that was still higher than the single-----------so i told them to keep all of it

i remember when walmart used to give you one free when anything was mis-priced like that------i got my toothpaste at he grocery and paid just a little more for it

Went to the store yesterday and experienced "STICKER SHOCK!!!!"  Bought just what was needed and left.  As we were pulling out of the parking lot, we were hit by another car leaving.  She said she was in a hurry because she had to get to work.  Damage was estimated at $1208.70!!!  Expensive trip to the store, I would say!!

Gale,  I would love to have 22 oranges for $2.58. We live in CA and you
would think we would get them cheaper. Right now they are on sale for
$.49 cents a pound.
