I went shopping the other day and I'm just sick over the prices on groceries.They keep going up and up.Ground beef 80/20 on sale is $2.99 a # that's twice as much as before.Everything seems to be 50 c

All Liquid Laundry Detergent is on sale for 2.99. I used a coupon and paid 1.99 for 50 ounces.

The prices are horrendous...Ground beef used to be an inexpensive staple, but now at 3.99 a pound I hesitate to even buy that. I find I am making "breakfast for dinner" quite often - pancakes, french toast, etc. I agree with those who are buying only those things on sale and using what coupons there are available, and still am paying upwards a hundred a week. Ugh!!!!!

Here in Oregon, OH they are HIGH--HIGH--HIGH!! And I see no decrease in sight. I do see less and less coupons in our papers, and even fewer from the internet sites. I refuse to pay some of the prices they are asking.....especially $7.38 for ONE pound of bacon!! The only good thing coming out of this is the fact I have lost some weight, especially since I refuse to pay $3.79 for a loaf of all grain bread!
I wonder what is in store for the coming year?

Here in wy prices are going up my food bill per month is at least 50.00 higher hey clothrs ae going up also kmartm rised prices on all clothers by a $1.50 more changed it at the check out before they got to mark the tags.

I was lucky,I had a few coupons and a lot of my friends gave me their's.I was able to buy peanut butter for $1.00 so I bought 15 jars,I still have 3coupons I'm going back in the morning to buy the rest.There was a time that I had 40+jars at one time my husband said we would never use it all,guess what? We did lol lol lol !

How do you use leftover roast beef?

A boneless beef roast (not chuck roast) was $ .80# cheaper than a pound of ground chuck. It seems that we cannot afford to eat burgers, but can eat roast beef .
How many different ways can one serve left over roast?
1 hot beef sandwich
2 cold sandwich
3 in stew
4 in soup
5 French dip
6 shredded in BBQ sauce on a bun

Anyone have other ways to use left over roast?

GRANA here; Prices ae terrible( per serving) net weight is lower while prices are higher

/>use coupons
/>buy markd down items and it's still difficult to remain in budget;even after hubby increased it( food budget) by $5 a week.
ThePB priceincrease wil be dfficult for all of us.Hubby & I like toasted hole grain bagel half w/PB or cottage cheese and cottage cheese can get boring.
we buy steaks( markdowns (select ratherthan choioce grade & marinate them to make them more tender. One pkg of (tenderizing) marinade is used for 3 steak meals due to the smaller portions of meat we use.
More soups( veggies, whole grains& legumes ( beans & lentils is one more way to save $$$ but that takes energy( coking fuel) & tme( not available to everyone.

no double or triplecoupons here; no computer coupons accepted at some stores.
sale items often not available or are in poor condition( produce items). Trying to save money on meals can be very dificult & frustrating. BUT I keep trying & on occasion succeed!

#1] I (thinly slice& caramelize onion(s) & place them over sliced cooked roast beef.cover tw/ Italian blend cheese shreds (parmesean, provolone & , mozzerella& quickly mico heat to mel t the cheese
= PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SANDWICH OR omit the rol l& serve either w/ veggies OR asst. pickles
In the sandwhich shop these cost pwards of  $5 for a 6"sub roll
The onions can be caramrelized a few days before& kept covered & chilled till needed !Then just assemble & micro heat and enjoy(popular arround here);
#2]frugal New Englanders:
chop themeat mince) & add to nearly cooked hash  browned potatos( w/ onions) heat through& enjoy ROAST BEEF HASH similar to corned beef hash & nice w/ eggs & pickled beets or cole slaw

Ann,I think you do quite well.It's very frustrating indeed,This week I did well. I have learned how to play the coupon game and shop only sale items.Ladies and gentlemen don't forget you can try to serve a meatless meal and or a breakfast for dinner to lower your shopping bill.My family doesn't mind breakfast for dinner two nights a week.My husband being a meat and potato guy runs my bill up so I have to careful.I spend a couple of hours each week working on a list and looking for bargains.Check out the grocery prices on some items at your local drug stores.All in my area carry groceries and some have rewards programs.I buy extra Sunday papers if there are a lot of good coupons,I ask my friends for coupons they aren't using and give them mine if I can't use them.Compare prices on varies sizes the large size isn't always the best buy some times by buying a quantity of smaller packages it is cheaper.By all means use your coupons if you haven't started the check out procedure be polite offer to allow the person behind you in front of you and tell them it might be awhile that you have a lot of coupons.Most of the time when I check out the person behind me is flabbergasted by my savings and will say they have too start paying more attention to coupons!Just follow the instructions on the coupon and buy what it says.If it states only one coupon per item purchased this is what it means not five coupons on one.If you have five items and five coupons that is what is meant,even if the items and coupons are all the same.I cut up my own chickens and meat when I buy in bulk,having a dad that was a butcher helped but there are instructional video's on YOU TUBE Broadcast yourself on just about anything you want to learn.This site is free.When you need butchers twine or wooded sticks for city chicken or to tie your roast ask the butcher if he will sell you some most of the time it will be a small amount or he may even give them to you.Years ago when I worked in the grocery store I asked the butcher for some metal skewers that they made shish kabob with and he charged me 10 cents a piece.I still have them.With a little time and thought you can save money on your groceries.
