I went shopping the other day and I'm just sick over the prices on groceries.They keep going up and up.Ground beef 80/20 on sale is $2.99 a # that's twice as much as before.Everything seems to be 50 c

I needed to get a 5 lb. bag of sugar and the price was $3.59...My chin hit the floor! It use to save you money to make your home-made breads, desserts, etc...but I am stating to wonder if it is really a savings anymore! A person must do what you gotta do to save money so you can put food on the table to feed your family! It's sad and very hard today to make ends meet!

Prices keep going up and up but income doesn't. I try to only buy what's on sale and stock up. My husband thinks I'm nuts to have a lot of peanut butter and canned goods in the house. But I figure if the prices keep going out of sight, he may have to settle for that peanut butter as protein instead of meat lol.

Coupons used to help a lot but lately there haven't been too many for what I buy and most of them expire so quick you can't save them for a sale. Oh well, we can only do the best we can.

We stopped at Sam's on Sunday as they were having 3 days of free membership. I wanted maple syrup, sliced almonds, real vanilla in the 8 oz bottle and a few other things. I compared their prices to what I can get in my regular stores when stuff is on sale, and really except for a few items, they are NOT cheaper. I wouldn't pay $40 a year for the privilage of shopping there.

At Kroger's on Saturday, a pound of Oscar Mayer bacon was $8.39!!!!!! I bought another brand on sale for $4.99; but we did not like it! I guess there will be no BLT's this summer!!

No Judy, they aren't cheaper here either and you can't use coupons.There are are a few exceptions and this is if you can use these items,rice,heavy whipping cream,yeast sold in a 1# bag and some of the other baking items,like sugar and flour and you have to buy in much larger packages to really save,plus you do have a membership fee every year.It was nice when my husbands employer payed for our membership every year but they no longer do.

Employees are paid less;are often laid off leaving more work or the few remaing staff to do.
The once more expensive cuts of meat often go unsold & end up being marked own 30% for bargain hunters like me to grab up
...I've got lots of compeition for these bargains & make the meat dept . my first stop when shopping; hoping to find a few "good deals"for the week.

Hi H.M.,There was a time I had 30 jars of peanut butter in my pantry,I got them for 69 cents with the sale price and coupons.My son always has his own jar because he eats out of the jar,well needless to say the peanut butter didn't last long.I will buy more newspapers on Sunday if the coupons are good and friends and neighbors give me theirs if they don't want them.The only thing is there are less and less coupons.Like you said we can only do the best we can.

food prices are always up every week some thing else goes up we don't have sales tax in de were are lucky but its hard on ss as that don't go up .

At Kroger's this morning, the price on the above was $5.49. I give up!!! Maybe it's time for starvation diets. When people quit buying at the high prices, maybe by then they will come down. But....by then, everyone will be so thin, they won't want to eat and gain it all back. I don't think that will ever happen!!

I did a lot better this week,I only spent a little over a hundred dollars.With my coupons I bought 5 bags of Wackie mac tri colored pasta @ 40 cents a bag or 5/$2,3 bags of Bugles @ $1 bag,3 bags of chex mix @ $1 bag,Crunch and Munch 2 boxes for $1.50.I bought 6 -30oz.jars of Hellmans canola oil mayo @ $3 a jar I know this seems like a lot but my family reunion is coming up and also our block party and our other neighboorhood get togethers,2 large jars of Ragu for $5 for buying the 6 jars of mayo and 2 large jars of Ragu I got a $7 off my next shopping trip along with $2 coupon and another $1 off coupon I sent my son back in and I got 5 32oz.Smuckers grape jam for FREE.There were good sales on the meats and produce that I bought.I have to buy some junk food now and then for the guys.Cucumbers were 2/$1,cauliflower 2/$3, 1# baby carrots .99,3# onions for .99,cream cheese .99 a pkg.All my meats were on sale.2 -8oz.shredded Mazzarella cheese 2/$3.the list goes on.I hope this is the start of lower prices in the stores or is this the quiet before the storm ! I know that the President thinks that we should all lose weight, but the grocery prices are ridulous. I remember when my parents complained about prices, but this is not a good thing. We have changed our way of eating and unfortunately a lot of "fattening foods" are a cheaper way. Having changed eating habits because of Cholesterol numbers years ago when they said less meat and more carb and gained 30 useless pounds that I cannot lose, where will it go??? I guess this is one way of shortening the older peoples lives so that the burden will be lifted from Medicare. God help us all.

It is getting so I just buy sale items and hopefully have a coupon for them. I keep stuff on hand so I don't run out and have to pay full price. Miracle Whip was on sale here lately for under $3. if one had a coupon it would have been a deal. I remember when it would be on sale for 99¢.
