I went shopping the other day and I'm just sick over the prices on groceries.They keep going up and up.Ground beef 80/20 on sale is $2.99 a # that's twice as much as before.Everything seems to be 50 c

I am surprised that there are no coupons for Libby's pumpkin on this website.  I was going to buy some yesterday, but I think I'll wait until it goes on sale at Walmart.

I went to our area discount store shopping yesterday,they do not double coupons.Most of the items there are name brand products at a discounted price,they do take coupons and I was still able to knock off $10.50 off with single coupons.Double coupons don't always mean a great price when the price is already high to begin with.I pretty much know the prices on what I buy and that definitely helps.If the price will be the same I buy it at my main shopping store and get the gas points.

My  grocery budget  is $50 week.( up from$40 before prices began going up so obscenely.Last week I spent  $36.We were both pretty pleased.This week ( a too  busy; too hot  day) hubby bought a suitcase of lite beer on end of season closeout sale;"artisan" salad mix @ 1/2 price; fresh( day old 1/2 price)  bakery rye bread   & sliced boloney@ 1/2 pice to go on his rye bread.
He also  bought  8 bananas( for cereal &  a fresh pineaple for dessert after   ourSaturday Chinese lunch special  takeout & PHO(Vietnamese noodle soup w/ chicken breast shreds or dice  & Oriental veggies for stir fries & PHO( Vietnamese  noodle soup)
   We got a BIG bag of corn tortilla cips fornacho&sides;  my fave yogurt yogurt@ half al price.(on asdvice of doc after nearly 3 weeks on anti biotics,s( UTI & out-patient foot  surgery) We both enjoyt it for  breakfast, snax& dessert so no real hardship..it was on1/2 price sale & I would have bought it anyway.I used several coupons( FREE& $$ of & stil the total ame to  $62; averaging out to$48  per week (  just w/in budget . We also got 10 servings of chocolate sundae cups impulse item on this hot day; sitablefor adiabetic(one starch exchange  per serving & suiitable for a diabetic;after a reasonably carb conrolled meal( artisan salad greens w/BQ chicken breast meat shreds or chicken fritter slices & a lite salad dressing.

chicken breastm eat for 4 meals of chicken fritters( w/cole slaw & fries[ potatoes for already in home] we both were shocked at the totalSurprised&  only survived the shock by realizing that we averaged out  $48 week  for the last 2 weeks& got lots of  extra goodies  &  treats.The check out girl commented on our unusual purchase of luxury items;&"how good our meals are going to be this week" Wink
Once a year or so,  when there are realy good sales on fave items it's  ok to splurge ?; at least that's
 what I  I keep telling myself   Undecided

GRANA here; Last week we were way over budget.( couldn't help it w/ these new higher prices.This week we spent $10 less( stil over budget ) but got a a bag of apples, abagofourfavesaladmix;r.t.b.cookie dough(Nestle's of course) a smal steak ( enough for two meals steak cut mushrooms for the steak; = of3 dozen eggs or baking,dumplings,  & omelets  6 yogurt cups 21/2 price  formy dr reccomended  post foot surgery anti-biotic refimen;   a #  of tuna steaks; 2 BIG bags of Halloween snack size  candy bars.. We're gving out kid's toothpaste & those who say thank you will also get a candy bar.They're all our neighbors(locked building) & are always polite  & helpful to  us othh..
Hubbyhopes they will forget their manners; he plans to dress up & "knock on my doorWink.I already have  quite a few frozen just for himLaughingKiss

IGRANA here; using COUPONS, knowing prices & shopping the (sales) ads helps but  at some point   I just have to "BITE  THE BULLET" & either accept reality or  do without.  It's just us two oldies, no kids to pleas or fill up at mealtimes.If we cannot afford meat; we don't mind, as long as fresh fruits & veggies are on the tableSmile[ hubby says " cookies too"]YellLaughing

With all the grocery(and other) prices going up just about every week I will be stocking up a lot when something is on sale for a decent price.  Since I have been taking my Mom shopping every week I usually just shop at the same time, but I have been cutting back a lot on things I don't need.  I took her shopping on Monday and between the two of us we only spent $15. But that is due to the fact that we both have gardens and the fridge and freezer are full of their bounty for now.  We'll have to wait and see what fresh produce and fruit will cost this winter and next year.   Wouldn't it be nice if the price of something actually went down?

I watch for mark downs, but it is hard to figure out when the store is going to do it.  It used to be I could count on certain days/times to get meats at a lower price.  But all the stores are open 7 days a week and long hours too.  I can't plan to be there at the "best" times any more, they seem to be too random. Undecided

Whisk laundry products is on sale   for 3.99 for 50 fluid ounce I used a 2.00 off coupon and paid  1.99. I had two coupons so I purchased two containers.

I got a fantastic bargain today.  One of the "girls" at work told me about a manager's special on chocolate chips.  We tell each other when we find specials on baking stuff.  I stopped on my way home today and got 10 bags of chocolate chips (Hersher's) and 4 bags of butterscotch chips ((Nestle's) for 99¢ each.  What a deal.  I found out why they were on sale, as the "death date" is next month.  In my opinion chocolate chips keep forever until they are eaten.

The prices here in NE ohio seem to be getting a little better.I just finished my shopping list.Between sale items and coupons I should be able to bring my bill down by 50%.That makes me happy and my pantry is well stocked.They are saying things are supposed to get worse I sure hope not.If you can I hope everyone is able to buy a little more each week to have on hand just in case.Just to let you know rice is a great thing to keep on hand.The shelf life on white rice is indefinite as long as store in a dry place.It can be used in savory dishes and also used in desserts.Rice is even good eaten as a hot cereal,just add a little butter,brown or white sugar and even a little cinnamon ,oh you can also put some milk on it.Dry beans are also a great staple to keep on hand it is a good source of protein and fairly inexpensive.I've started buying canned and frozen fruit and vegetables to have on hand when the prices go up this winter.

Gale,  I found cheaper prices in the grocery stores in MI than the
ones in CA.  I use coupons all the time to try to save. I like the rice
and beans idea.  I remember that we would have white rice with
brown sugar and cinnamon for lunch when we were kids. Brings
back good memories!!

Hi Carol,I think CA's prices are higher on everything the cost of living is higher there.I love to eat rice like that,so good! I started making breakfast for dinner once a week to save a little too.The guys like that.

GRANA  here; Prices are up again & no 30% off [reuced price] meats, available today!!!!!!!!!!!We went shoppping & spent just under $60 over budget, again but got  a large ripe  fresh pineapple, orange, apples,  red raspberries
 cat treats, 8 cups of high quality yogurt (dr reccomended after my 3 weeks on antibiotics) 
 ingredients for  cookie baking for the next few weeks;
 1.5# of  X-lean Angus ground ound  beef (burger , meatloaf& meatball meat)
 portbello mushrooms for Sunday's chicken cacciatore; the  sweet  peppers are already cut & in my freezr
 a large ripe  tomato for grilled cheese sandwiches, salads & burgers
2# green beans forChinese style ginger tofu & green beans and/or rGrek style green beans
 1/2 gallon of Blueberry juice
; cabbage forGerman syle abbage saute / chicken shnitze / cutlets , one day
a pt of my fave Asian gnger-soy light  dressing   for my Asian chicken salad, on sale & used a  coupon
W/ cooler weatherI'm back into preparing heartier meals on cooler days,  modeWinkSalads sandwiches are fine in the ot summertime, but cooler weather demands "real food" Wink
I have refund of  $4.28Money mouth coming to me next week( overcharges & un-credited coupons, hubby  didn't catch  whilec checking out.We had  a brand new heckout clerk &  she slipped up  w/ all my discounts  & coupons, poor thing.FrownInnocentpolite  &  really tried hard but even the mos experienced  cashiers have difficultyw /all my coupons marked down bargains!!!!!!!!!!!!Wink

Prices are getting worse.  I went food shopping yesterday and I needed a small can of Tom. Sce...59 cents.  I remember that you could get 3 for $1.00.  I started doing my food shopping at the local Mennonite store and see if they have what I got on my list.  So what if the can is slightly dented and I always check the expiration date.  What I can't get there, then I make a trip to the big supermarket.  It's horrible what the prices are today!  And I don't see that it is going to get any better anytime soon!

I only shop my large chain store for coupon items and sale items which doubled coupons up to .99 cents or $1.98 doubled.I spent $53.85 and saved $67.45 so not a bad trip,Saving over 50%.I then went to our discount store and Saved $5 using coupons they don't double and spent $47.03.I spent .88 cents over my budget of $100 and added a lot to my pantry and for groceries for the week

All Liquid Laundry Detergent is on sale for 2.99. I used a coupon and paid 1.99 for 50 ounces.
