In Response to Re: How are the grocery prices in your area?:
Went shopping late Fri. (I had a lot of coupons & 2 rain checks that I planned to use, so I got to the store about 9:30PM) There were some good sales, but I noticed that there were items not on sale that the store use to have on sale the week before turkey day for the past 30 + years. I bought a 18.67# turkey, about 12# sweet potatoes, 5 boxes Stove Top (will use during 2012, not for next week) 5# bread flour, 2 bottles of McCormick extract, 2 Miracle Whip, 3# butter, gal. of milk, 4 Pillsbury pie crust (I like to have some in the freezer), 2 S. Lee Apple Pies(like to have at least 1 in the freezer for drop ins) 2 heads of lettuce, 2 bags of Dole salad, 2 Dole pineapple & a few other items. Total before coupons & rain checks was $114.37 & I paid $47.34(savings of $67.03). I now have all I need for Thanksgiving dinner but I saw the ad for next week & will go Wed. (or maybe Thr. while the turkey is cooking) & buy a few items that will be on sale. I do not leave the house on black Fri., I usually start baking & making turkey soup to freeze.

I have to work on black Friday so have to go out, but I certainly won't be shopping. I go to work early and it is amazing to see all the cars in the mall parking lot at 6 am.
