I purchase the 64 ounce pure 100 % Orange Juice that sales for 2.47 instead of the 59 ounce size that is higher in price

I live in Missisippi and our grocery prices are outrageous! Now I haven't been to the grocery store since the last of December but I had to go this weekend. BOY, was I shell shocked!!! I get a weekly sales paper from the locally owned grocery stores and had been watching the prices steadily go higher and higher. Saturday night I went to my favorite locally owned grocer(found out they are closing the end of the month, so sad about that) and got ground beef 73/27 for $1.99 a pound and pork roast for $1.49 a pound. Now those two items I haven't seen that "cheap" in a couple of years. I went back yesterday, got another huge package of ground beef, another huge pork roast(hubby took both of the pork roasts and had them sliced into 3 roasts each for us..it's just the two of us unless we have grands over), four large packages of catfish fillets, a b**t portion ham and a package of western style pork ribs. We also bought a huge rutabaga, some turnip greens and two packages of fish fry batter. We spent less than $100 there even with us getting all that meat! I thought that we did pretty good at that store. Then we went to WalMart and I spent over $130 and didn't get much of anything. I buy my paper products at Family Dollar Store and I also buy a lot of food items at The Dollar Tree. They have the sweetener that my husband likes for $1 a box with is much cheaper than anywhere else. Total, I ended up spending about $275 for groceries. I make my own laundry detergent and bleach and some of my cleaning supplies. Milk is our totally out the roof priced item here though. We have a milk processing plant here, Prairie Farms label, LuVel was the former name of the company and we pay higher prices for milk than people in other states where it is shipped in to them. I usually buy milk at CVS because they always have it for $3.29 -$3.99 a gallon. I agree that the higher gas prices are adding to the price of groceries and other items but I also agree with Maryann O that "they are going to be higher when the people in the white house get done." Sorry so long, but just had to add my two cents to this. I'll get off my soapbox now.

I noticed that Lowes and Harris Teeter were close in price for a lot of sales this week in there weekly inserts ads.

Grocery prices continue to go up. in AR. Manufacturer coupons are less plentiful. Even sale prices can be higher than the regular prices used to be.

Prices are up each week; sales offer good deals but the items( varieies we want are usually not available( 'discontinued or "out fs tock the first day ...RAINCHECKS are available wait on line & practically write it ut yourself , they're good for 30 days & items often don't come in before the rainchecks expire.I've learned to take the ad & raincheck to TARGET oR WALMART where sale prices m other stores are usually honored & buy the item there( after first calling to confirm they have it in stock, they usually do.
I'm convinced our nearby grocery store advertises items to draw customers in & then deliberately holds back the more popular varieties of everything on ad from shampoos to soups.
When I'm tol that the item has been discontinued I call the mfr & find out iyis still availabe & get the UPC # for the store mgr who sometimes orders it for me to honor the raincheck.The practice of dvertising a sale price on an item no longer available to lure customers in is called"BAIT & SWITCH' in NY state whereI studied business law for 2 years. The (B&S) practice is not ethical but seems to be legal where I live, in N.H.
Oh yes, while I'm in the atlernate store I purchase everything else I can get at comparable prices to my usual groery store. I've told the grocery store mgr.what I'm doing & that's when he began to " special order "itemsffor me OR extend my raincheck ,My grocery budget( $50 weee average a lot less than other shoppers) but he knows"i have BIG mouth" & pursuade my neighbors to shop where orelewhereto find poductsI reccomend to them.Since I retired,I have sufficient time to play the shpping game seriously & use my shopping skills & experience to my advantage.

2 weeks ago hubby shoped solo& bought a BIG variety of meats all @ 30% off many store's own fresh sausage, al305 lessfat: Kielbasa; Italian fennel& breakkfast type.
We don't usually eat sausage but theirs is god and at reducedfatrices he coldn't resist.
He also got 3 small boneless lamb roasts( each enough h for a meal for us both for $8.99; being kept frozen till PASSOVER when we'll enjoy them w/ oven roasted baby redskin potatoes steamed fresh asparagus, usually on sale @that time of year a very festive meal we a lways enjoy.We usually ay nearly $10 for one small roast & get 2 meals from it

I went to the grocery store to purchase a 12 pack of Coke products on sale buy one get one free. I purchased two 12 packs and received two free 12 packs. I spent 3.18 total price and now have four 12 packs or 48 cans of Coke products.

We did a little shopping yesterday the first time for me to go to the store I've been sending my son for little things.I was pleasantly surprised most things were the same price as they have been but I only went to one store.
